...
Dante placed the Board and pieces away, pushing them under his work desk.
"Okay Vergil, shall we play a game you actually do know the rules to?" Dante tried reasoning.
Vergil thought deeply for a moment or two, coming finally to a simple conclusion.
"Checkers" he replied, smiling. Dante replied with a smile also, getting the Board ready and the blue and red Checker pieces ready accordingly.
"Nothing better on a rainy day, right bro?" Dante asked.
"Right bro" Vergil replied, staring down at the Board. His eyes focused on the pieces, his mind eager and ready to win.
The game began hastily, pieces being moved as they were meant to be. Blue and red Checker pieces sat on the Board, in their diagonal spaces. Vergil jumping a piece over Dante's red checker. Dante double jumping two blue Checker pieces, sending them out of play.
The game heated up, and not many pieces were left. Dante with two pieces left, and two Kings. Vergil with one piece left, but three Kings.
Blue pieces chasing red pieces, and Dante's two remaining Checker pieces removed from play, taking one of Vergil's Kings out of the game as well.
Dante left, relying on his two Kings. Vergil with his two Kings also, and his single piece on the Board.
Dante's mind racing at a million miles an hour. 'I've got it', he thought. "Vergil, look over there!"... Vergil turned his attention to where Dante was pointing, as his hands quickly switched where Vergil's pieces were, setting him up to take them all in a single move.
"What?" Vergil asked, confused; returning his attention to his brother, who was trying to hide the smirk on his face.
"Looks like I win again" Dante stated, taking Vergil's pieces.
"Wait, what?" Vergil cried out, in disbelief. "This has to be some sort of trick, surely not" he said, still stunned at the outcome.
"Seriously, you moved your pieces this way Vergil. You should be more careful next time" Dante answered, smiling at his cheating victory.
There was momentary silence between the brothers in the room, as Dante once again packed away the game, placing it with the Chess Board under the work desk.
The rain still crashing down outside of Devil May Cry.
Dante turned to his brother, with a 'what now then?' expression.
Vergil cleared his throat, and stretched his muscles.
"Twister?"
