This has been bothering me for a very long time.
if Sparda closed the doorway to the demon world 2000 years ago does that mean that dante and vergil are 2000 year old ?
If the doorway sealed these two worlds from each other where did the demon that atacked dante in the begining of DMC3 came from ??
How did they got through the barrier ?
won't you have to remove force edge from hell for demons to appear ?
arkham said that sparda sacrificed a mortal priestess, was that Dante's mother ?

Sparda sealed the gateway 2000 years ago, and wandered the earth for a VERY good part of that. In the last twenty or so years, he had twin sons and then disappeared or died.

There is also more than one doorway. Sparda just sealed the main one.

Yeah. It says in DMC1 that the Marionettes and the Sin/Death type enemies are tied to the human world by a physical object, like the puppet or their masks.

I like the way the Marionettes bleed everywhere when you attack them though. Creepier.

It's because when they become possessed, they turn into living creatures. Albeit very slow, very frail creatures, but alive nonetheless.

hmm... so how did the three demons of DMC4 (you know the ones that get dante devil ARMS) managed to stick to the human world ??

Bael = ice

Not fully, they had help from the hellgate. The ones that Agnus made as substitution of the real gate, which only let a few demons get out.
