Possible button layout

ReRave

smug jerk
We know a pretty great deal about the move-set of new Dante and what the game will feel like, when it's finished, so I was thinking: How about throwing some ideas in, as to how the controls might look like in the finished game.

I'll start by posting my own theory (PS3-controller):
Left Analogue Stick: Move
Right Analogue Stick: Camera Adjustment
L1: Devil Trigger (if there will be two distinctive triggers, maybe in combination with pushing L2 and R2?)
R1: Lock-On
Triangle: This has been the sword button in the previous installments. Highly likely it will stay that way.
Rectangle: gun button. As above.
X: Jump

That is more or less the basic layout, as it has been since DMC1. Let's proceed with what might be new:
L2: Angel Stance. Triggers Angel-moves, when you hit the "Style-Button" (Circle). Grapples you towards the enemy with the gun-button.
R2: Demonic Stance. Triggers Demon-moves, pulls the enemy towards you with the gun-button.
Circle: Stance-moves. In combination with the Stance-Triggers, Dante uses the specific moves of his angelic/demonic power. E.g.: "Angel Glide" might be "L2+ O+ Left Stick", the "Axe Toss" might be "R1+ R2+ O".

Edit: Forgot the D-Pad as a weapon-switch

It's likely, that the gun-button, in combination with the Stance-Triggers, is also the button for the grappling hook, seeing how Antoniades once mentioned, that the guns are tied to his human form.

Any other theories?

Thats pretty much it,and it's most likely the guns would be tied to his weapons in their human form so when you switch melee weapons via the D-pad you switch guns too.
Proof:whenever he uses the guns(E & I) his sword(Rebellion) does not glow meaning he's in human form.

My point exactly, dude. ;)

i just translate it to Xbox Controller :D

Left Analogue: Move
Right Analogue: Camera Adjustment
LB: Devil Trigger (if there will be two distinctive triggers, maybe in combination with pushing LT and RT?)
RB: Lock-On
Y: Sword Button
X: Gun button
A: Jump
D-Pad : weapon-switch
LT: Angel Stance. Triggers Angel-moves, when you hit the "Style-Button" (B). Grapples you towards the enemy with the gun-button.
RT: Demonic Stance. Triggers Demon-moves, pulls the enemy towards you with the gun-button.
B : Stance-moves. In combination with the Stance-Triggers, Dante uses the specific moves of his angelic/demonic power. E.g.: "Angel Glide" might be "LT+ B+ Left Stick", the "Axe Toss" might be "RB+ RT+ B".

And The Most Important One :
Back : Taunt

It's just assumptions, but it reveals a lot about the kind of game you will have in your hands in the end. You can clearly see, that the most likely layout is a traditional DMC-layout, which means, that the game will essentially (I choose that word deliberately) feel like DMC always has.
Other than that it's just fun to speculate, don't you think? :)

Hmm I use Xbox sooo...
(Notice I use a difference between stance and style)

Left Analog: Movement.
Right Analog: Camera movement.
Y-Button: Melee attacks.
X-Button: Shooting.
A-Button: Jumping.
B-Button: Special Attacks depending on style.
LB: Lock on.
RB: Devil/Angel trigger depending on stance.
RT: Switch melee weapons in Devil Stance (two per stance).
LT: Switch melee weapons in Angel Stance (two per stance).
(Pressing LT during Devil Stance or RT in Angel Stance reverts you to human).
D-Pad Left, Right, and Down: Switch Styles that you customly input to the D-Pad (maybe this could add a little strategy or customization).
D-Pad Up: Switch ranged weapons (do you really need to switch your guns as quickly as your Devil Arms?)
