Which character do you think needed more character development or more scenes to get a better idea of what the character was about?
Also, what sort of scenes or character development would you have liked to see for this to happen?

Well,obviously Phineas.

And Kat could've used some more development in my opinion. They just threw her in there with a molestation story in an attempt to fill in Trish's gap,They could've atleast explained how or why she has her powers.

I strongly think they cutted so many bosses, stages, a few more weapons, missions and cutscenes. The game was long enough so they may have keep them for the next title.

Believe me..

i wanted all things to be more!!

seriously id have liked to know more about bob, and mundus as they were very intriguing. also vergil i wish he was more developed. as i really liked his (the guy who played him) acting any any scene with him in it were markedly more awesome. but we have vergils downfall for that.

Phineas: as long as he doesn't cry anymore.

The guy just showed up, knew everything. End of Phineas.

What if Phineas knew Vergil will be the most likely one to take the place of Mundus?
He knew Dante as a child so it will be quite obvious if he knew Vergil also.
Possibly he manipulated Dante out to control Vergil.

There are about 90 minutes of cutscenes (including those that come in between fights such as with Vergil at the end)...having seen them all in succession, I do feel that some characters have been sort of chucked in there with very little expansion to them. However, it's a game and not a film or some sort of interactive novel so to put in so much extra stuff would either make the scenes interminably long in places, or they'd be constantly cutting into gameplay time to make room for them. Too much information would, in my view, weaken the game as a whole. There would be nothing left to speculate on or talk about. Plus, if the way the whole "Dante gets his memory back" thing was handled is the likely standard for finding out more about each character?...no thanks.

That said, I was intrigued by Phineas and would like to find out more about him, even if we don't get to see him again in person. I wasn't interested enough in Dante's character to want to know more and Vergil seemed...closed. I dunno how to express that properly, but that's the best I can come up with right now.

Kat could do with a bit more, but I'm kind of wary of whether she'll turn into this kind of damsel in distress sort of person if they go too deeply into her upbringing in the foster home. I'd rather they focussed on her abilities, what it was like wandering Limbo in the early stages, how she met her first demon etc.

Everything about Phineas seems too good to be true.

And Dante was being manipulated throughout the whole game is kinda strange being that he was supposed to rebel against. I mean Kat changed his mind, Vergil changed his mind, and Phineas changed his mind. It wasn't until the end that he actually made an independent thought. " i don't know who i am anymore"

I'd like to see Dante and Kat put their past behind them and start hunting demons for money or whatever reason. I get why Kat is ****ed off at demons and i hope she doesn't have a demon father who wants control of the hell gate. Most likely not since Capcom won't have any input on the story (if a sequel is made) I also want Kat to teach Dante some tricks about Limbo just to introduce new abilities for combat and such.

I think most of the characters are pretty well developed and like you said, any more info on them would have compromised the flow of the game. I wish NT could release a directors cut though, even without all the character models, just release dialog from the performance actors or something. I was really hoping there was going to be a behind the scenes feature just like Heavenly Sword and Enslaved...... to bad

None of them there's so many scenes already it could use less any more and most of the time you playing will be mostly watching

I would also like to see more of Kat. She is probably my new favorite female in a DMC game. Kat is strong and determined without being over the top, she's just an average everyday ordinary girl who can still make a difference. I love the fact that she is a vulnerable human (like Lady) but can't fight worth a damn and is still willing to put her life at risk; that's nothing but pure courage to me. I would also like to see her on her own without the help of Dante or Vergil. She seems like a strong girl so I don't believe they would turn her into a Kyrie.....Well I would hope not...:ermm:

Phineas seems very duplicitous and I don't think we've seen the last of him. I either believe that we will see him again in Vergil's downfall or in a DmC2 finally showing his true nature.

Lastly I have to say Vergil because well....he's Vergil and I'm a Vergil fan-girl so there :P

I'm never usually a fan of female characters in games - they irritate me to the point of not wanting to play. I cannot stand the three standard types you seem to get: ball-breakers who are basically male characters re-skinned, ridiculously over-sexualised fan-service type women and dozy, helpless creatures who just whine and cry all the time. Mercifully, Kat (to me, at least) seems to be normal. Aside from the whole psychic thing she's got going on, she seems like a normal, regualr, cut me and I bleed type of person who is actually pretty likeable as a character and doesn't try to be someone she isn't.

I especially liked it during the *S.W.A.T cutscene when she says she's scared and wants to know what they'll do to her*- it was just acted out pretty perfectly and I respected her character more for it.

Yes thank you!! that's exactly why I loved her; she actually seemed like real woman instead of what some men want or perceive women to be in games. She was a breath of fresh air. I think the cliche that I hate the most is the whole damsel in distress (princess peach syndrome). That's why if there is a second DmC I want to see her off on her own. Even though I like her with Dante I'm afraid they would turn her into the girl he always has to protect.

That scene almost made me tear up a bit; well acted, emotional and honest in a nutshell.

Going to go for the majority vote and say Phineas. I would love for that demon to have more scenes. They set him up to be really interesting and mysterious. Maybe his appeal is in the mystery though?:P

Also went with Mundus. Seems like he was just about 'statements of intent' and 'Now I'm going to do this' and 'now I'm angry'. I know he's the villain and that's his job, but I would have liked to see how he got Kat talking, what he said to her and more of his reaction to Lilith being hostage- like maybe his return video to Dante and Vergil with the exchange. The only real look we get into what he is about is when he's talking to Dante in the office.

And Lilith....oh Lilith, you Mundus -cheerleader, maguffin plot device. :P I would have liked more about her that did not involve Mundus worship and that scene.I guess that was her defining characteristic though; her need to get Mundus' approval so she could have power through him. It's just a little cliche and shows a lack of ambition on her end if the only way to power is to have a baby to keep Mundus....except like real life that doesn't always work.
Something about maybe her having plans of her own. I liked her character and acting, but I would have found her more compelling if she'd had plans of her own. Okay, fine if she wanted to have Mundus' kid, but then she could have used it against him or turned traitor to make her child the next demon king. Also, I wonder if any talking took place when she was hostage with Vergil and Dante? Maybe she pleaded with them to let her go, or they found out how and why she's with Mundus, or more on her realising that she means nothing to Mundus. That would have deepened her character for me.

I say Phineas, because his character really intrigued me, and Vergil, because he's awesome (though I will get this with Vergil's Downfall DLC anyway)

I say everyone. Why? Because, well, they all could've been better.

I understand that Lilith is supposed to be Mundus' mistress but she was no different from any other Villain's Lover out there. Compare her to Onimusha 3's villainess (can't recall her name).

Bob could've been better than just having his script be dumbed down to "I hate Dante."

Kat? Well, she's just wasn't interesting to me. I just took her as another damsel in distress and want to see her be better than just having guns aimed at her head or being beat up by the SWAT team. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the fact that she's clever but I wish that she showed some independence. Something that could assure me that if she was in a journey of her own, she can handle herself. I mean, seriously, Vergil just called all humans weak and fragile and what does she do? Start kneeling down near a trash can after he talks down to her. Yes, I get it, she's weak but, for goodness sake, NT couldn't give her a little bit more backbone?

I don't think I can say alot about Phineas considering that everybody else pretty much said every reason I can think of.

Mundus was supposed to be the Big Bad. The Head Honcho. The Big Cheese. He should've been the Jecht of the game but nope. He was dwindled down to just being your basic corrupt banker who seemingly has a fascination with eating people's hearts.

Dante needs more because the scenes of his backstory didn't have much impact. They were just stills of various moments of his life. Why not show us all that in motion? I mean, c'mon, who wouldn't want to see a scene of Dante trying to take a peek at his own heart? I think it would be a highly emotional scene and would probably him a highly sympathetic character.

And Vergil definitely needs more. I would like to see why he has such views on humanity.

Dante and Vergil could have had more screen time.
Even if they were just sitting around, talking. I would love to have seen them just talk.
