People who were around for the release: What was the initial opinion of DMC2?

I'm really curious about it. It seems nobody wants to even touch the game anymore, not even Capcom - but what did fans think when it had first dropped?

I actually enjoyed it a lot, it was weird amd quirky, and nowhere near as good as 1

But i liked the new combat and acrobatics they introduced to it

Interesting.
DMC2 was my intro to the series XD The style meter made me kinda mad but it wasnt terrible. Some of the bosses were fun, and while the OST was repetetive I just put on my own music.
