OK what is the difference between Gold and Yellow mode?

I was playing again DMC3 and there is two modes at the begining the Yellow and the Gold what it the difference? :wacko:

GOLD-when u die u can respawn on the spot where u died
YELLOW-when u die,u will go back to ur last checkpoint

ITS NOT EXACTLY A MODE ACTUALLY,its just what orb u want to choose that will help u to continue the game even after u die
