Fresh details on upcoming horror sequel Resident Evil 6 have spilled from Capcom HQ for your consumption.

The publisher confirmed that the zombie blaster is set in the year 2013, making it 15 years since the events of the original Resident Evil and four years since the Kiijuju outbreak depicted in Resident Evil 5.

Returning hero Chris Redfield is in China as previously confirmed, though Capcom’s now pinned an exact location on where his adventure will take place: Lanshiang, a fictional town on the east coast of China.

Furthermore, Redfield suffered a major “personal trauma” six months prior to the events of RE6, an event which he is still recovering from by the time the game kicks off.

Sadly we’re still no closer to discovering the identity of the mysterious mercenary type who serves as the game's third playable character. However, Capcom did confirm that his arse-kicking antics will take place in Eastern Europe.

Leon S. Kennedy will be backed up by Helen Harper, a government agent sworn to protect the U.S. President. This isn’t President Graham – aka Ashley’s father from RE4 – however, but a chap named Adam Benford, who recruited Kennedy following the Raccoon City outbreak. Ingrid Hunnigan will also return in her capacity as Field Operations Support agent following her appearance in RE4.

Perhaps the most interesting tidbit is the fact RE6 will allow you to move and shoot simultaneously, a feature that has yet to see the light of day in a console title. Also new to the table is the J’avo enemy, a biological weapon capable of understanding human speech and can regenerate lost limbs and attack the player even while you’re in cover.

Zombies meanwhile will be able to move faster and even use weapons of some description, and unlike previous games are not infected with Umbrella's T-Virus.

Resident Evil 6 is due out on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 in November 2012.
