Need help with health cross

Have bought a health cross by clicking ENTER.
I thought it was 1 quarter, like the ones you find.
Therefore I did not click BUY AND USE.
Now it sits there. How can I use it?

It automatically bumps up your health when you buy it as it is a full cross. There's no need to use it or whatever.

I didn't think it had because I'd counted 11 white squares in my health bar and I still have 11. I must have miscounted.
