Frank West and Doctor Octopus rumoured for Marvel Vs. Capcom 3
Hackers delving into the code of Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 have uncovered evidence of what might be two extra downloadable characters: Dead Rising's Frank West and Spider-Man villain Doc Ock.
The hidden references to the two characters were uncovered by website Destructoid, although with no context to the references it's impossible to determine their importance.
They could simply be left over code referring to long ago discarded ideas - just as they could also be hooks for already planned downloadable content. Certainly Frank West was originally intended to be in the game and even appeared in silhouette in some of the early artwork.
Frank was also part of fellow Vs. game Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, with Capcom's excuse for leaving him out of Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 being that it was taking too long to get all his unusual moves working.
Doctor Octopus has never previously been rumoured, or appeared in any of the other games, although fans have voiced some upset at the lack of other Spider-Man villains.
Downloadable characters Jill Valentine (from Resident Evil) and Shuma-Gorath were announced some time ago and will be released sometime in March. So far though Capcom has not confirmed that any other characters will be added to the game.
There will certainly be other downloads though, with a six-pack of alternative costumes for Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Ryu, Dante, and Chris Redfield due to be released on 1st March for around £3.50.
There'll also be the free Shadow Pack the same day, which features computer-controlled opponents based on the playing styles of real world experts - the first being game producer Ryota Niitsuma
