Okay, so how exactly will this play out? Seemingly, the better your score the more the music evolves, but how exactly are they tracking that? Are they trying to translate the traditional ranking system into song form? Or maybe its offbeat of the old way of ranking and the game just grows as you get better by adding new tracks? And will this be for all tracks or only a few? What do you guys think?

i believe they are mixing the old way and the new way. they have said that they are going to use the style meter, and as your style increases aspects of the music will also increase.

Wow, that doesn't sound like a bad idea, Choco. If that's what they're planning, it could be their best idea ever.
why thank you, and im pretty sure that's how they are doing it, or at least what i've collected from articles and interviews that's what it sounds like they are gonna do. i too think its a great idea very original concept, and im curious as to how it would play out.

I've always been interested in this idea since it was announced, and I believe choco's nailed it. It is a really cool idea, and on 'The Fight' trailer you can hear the music getting louder; at the start it seems drained out by the combat noise, but as it goes on it gets louder.

and the most awesome thing was towards the end of the fight the vocals started to kick in there werent any vocals throughout the song :D

Anyone think it would be cool if Dante said what style he was at? the style could still be displayed on top, but just as an added feature, maybe he could yell out anything above an S style

Yeah, that would be quite cool. I sure hope they are going for the style-meter/music-hybrid, because that sounds very cool and engaging.

Its like at the end of every battle, the scene blurs and something pops up on the side of the screen. Then it starts scoring your points, and once you hit the maximum, three Ss, all in capital, pop up in a flash of gold and you hear a voice in the background saying "Let's Rock!"

...

...

*faint*

I think they might use both, just having the original in the background with the music getting better/louder the better you chain combos.

I would also like a HIT COUNTER not just stylish meter, so you know when you reach 100,300,500hits(then there can be online leaderboards for longest chain, most people can get SSS but how many can string 500hits. If Dante yells "IT'S ON" at 100,"BRING IT"300-400,"RELENTLESS" 500 & above or something like that. It would be so cool.

As much as I like this game and love the idea of music building as the combo does, I can't completely say I like it better than the Stylish Meter.
It's not a deal-breaker, but it's pretty important, I think.

Though this sounds sort of silly, many gamers like to be told that they're doing well; be it a letter-grade in DMC and Sonic, trophies/achievement points, or a combo counter.

So here's to hoping there's a HUD.

If they are completely removing style meter then i have nothing to say but *sigh* if not then its just a minor addition
