Mundus, Sparda & Eva

Ronin

Let's rock, baby!
Wonder how Mundus, Sparda & Eva will fit in.

We're Sparda & Mundus formerly best friends in the demon world and betrayed his kind for Eva?

when i saw just sparda and eva: oooh what we talking about here then nothing bad i hope ;)

then i see mundus: oh got rid of that thought

it proberly sparda was a top demon for mundus but when he wanted to enslave destroy or whatever to the humans sparda hated that idea and switched sides  but thats basically DMC as for DmC i have no ideas >_<

i think they may be a sort of war going on in limbo or at least there was. angels vs demons. Eva was a general for the angels and Sparda for the demons. the demons probably wanted to set the world on fire or something on those lines and the angels wanted to do something equally terrible. so they both defected to their own side together. making them both the most hated couple in history. mundus proabably killed sparda and eva. i imagine they sealed away their powers to seal something...limbo maybe? and as such could be killed.

it also explains why Eva is so hated. she probably killed thousands of demons single handedly and turned their most powerful general against demon kind.

probably like in the old series. mundus wanted to rule the human world but sparda didnt want it so he betrayed him and went to the angel side

I think this war was more like a mafia war except with demons. Sparda was dressed like a mobster boss and Mundus like he was. Sparda went against Mundus and his world domination plan and decided to fight him, however from what we've seen of recent gameplay and trailers, it seems Sparda failed to defeat Mundus but probably sealed him in the process of getting killed.

In all fairness....NT has to stay remotely close to the source material as possibly they've already changed everything or 75% of the series...I can live with the characters change of looks, any new characters that weren't there before, making Eva an angel, changing up Dante's & Vergil's back-story drastically, making Vergil good (so it seems), an entirely different story, and making demons rule over mankind making what Sparda all for nought but f*cking up Sparda's legacy is where I draw the line.

The main thing that made DMC was Sparda and his events before the storyline...him defeating Mundus and sealing away the demon world and saving mankind and becoming a legend because of it set the standard for the story and Dante's character as well as Vergil's and probably Nero....he was literally the source material for the conception of all main antagonists in the series.

Mundus - his former right master and was betrayed by him now he wants revenge and is out to overthrow the world again but this time Sparda's son must stop him.
Argosax - demon god worshipped by the people of Dumary Island until Sparda sealed him away and Dante must prevent his return and finish what his father had started.
Arkham - a man who respected Sparda's power and wanted it so he can become like him.
Sanctus - the leader of an Order who worships him and adores him and all he really wants to is to really do what he thinks Sparda would've wanted and unite and free the world from chaos and have all of mankind acknowledge Sparda as the world's savoir like any Jesus/God fanatic would do too but he needed Sparda's power and legacy to do this and believes if he wants to achieve world peace he needs to have as much power as Sparda.

Its his legacy that defined the core values of DMC. Now if they erase all of that and just make him some powerful demon who rebelled against Mundus and died trying......I'm telling you the fans will flip out....what they did to Vergil, Dante, & other characters is easy to work with...Dante matures into the demon hunter we know as him, Vergil becomes power hungry or betrays Dante, and etc...all that they done now can work but messing with Sparda's legacy like that cannot be fixed...slightly alter it make some changes or threw in a few things...or remove some old stuff like the Dumary Island stuff or redo certain aspects about his legacy like how he sealed off the demon world or maybe edit it to the point that he only defeated Mundus but not completely seal away the demon world or work with Limbo and apply that someway with Sparda's legacy or something...ANYTHING but make Sparda's legacy be a guy who fought valiantly and lost...maybe they can still do that AFTER he became the legend he is recognized and explain why demons are running amok and why Sparda is gone and work with the concept of Limbo because I think everything about DmC pertaining to Sparda and his legacy should be as it is in DMC up til he sealed away the demon world.

two words: ALTERNATE UNIVERSE.

As alternative universe and re-immagination of the serie it must distance itself as possible from original one. This is a new serie with new storyline. DmC MUST be original NOT a copy and paste of the old series.

Well there must be some elements that must stay in tact, but don't copy and paste everything from the original into the alternate.

The elements that must stay are the main characters, of the successfull DMC games and the combat. Putting everything positive from DMC to DmC and the game will carry on by its own.

They've already changed everything else outside the names for everything else....I mean every Superhero reboot have retained that one element that made the original series what is. Changing the ultimate lore of DMC is as if the Dark Knight trilogy Bruce Wayne's parents weren't rich millionaires but instead were commoners or poor homeless people and the only thing that NT hasn't yet touched upon yet is Sparda and even if it is a reboot, re-imagination, retelling, or whatever it still has to stay true or respect its source material and Sparda's legacy is what made DMC in the first place and DMC is what made DmC otherwise it would be too unrecognizable as Devil May Cry. They might as well re-title it Devils Never Cry or something.

All of the changes in DmC from the original DMC is fine but Sparda's legacy transcends DMC and if NT f*cks with that and does a complete 360 with his legacy instead of being this almighty demon who rebelled against his fellow demon brethren and saved the human race from extinction and was a legend but knew one day the demon emperor would rise again so he passed down his legacy to his 2 sons to finish it to a demon who rebelled against his own kind and lost and to have his 2 sons clean up his failures is when I...

Again; Alternate Universe.

Look at Vergil; he's no longer wanting to gain Sparda's power but instead wants to find his step father and kill all the demons while saving the human race. (Or so it seems) Sparda is most likely still the demon who sacrificed something in order to save the human race, but this time, he's more modern. Maybe he lived to defeat Mundus and sealed him 2000 years ago, but this time Mundus came back and caught Sparda without his unlimited power cause he sealed it away, thus Sparda being defeated and killed, leaving Dante and Vergil to fight instead.

This....this works...as long as Sparda still has a legacy in this game cause what made Sparda's legacy so strong is his name. His name carried a lot of weight and that affected the actions in the current timeline of DMC.

If Sparda's name is carried in shame and failure......this game has failed me as a DMC fan.[/quote]

I agree 100%, now to make this a pony thread

this is a lil off topic buuut i think in this universe (of DmC) Sparda and Eva both sacrificed their own powers in order to stop mundus/angels/protect humanity/ some greater cause and to give Dante and Vergil safer lives. but Mundus was able to (i assume escape) and track them both down killing Eva and possibly Sparda. as such mundus sees sparda as a huge failure as he lost everything for what mundus sees as something worthless.

now this is all just guess work. im getting this from how he talked to dante in the E3 trailer and how sparda was too big for his own ****ing boots. so im guessing either sparda made too many enemies and didnt pay them the attention they needed and was killed because of it.

Actually "too big for your own boots" is an old English saying that means behaving as if you are more important than you really are.

eg. "He's been getting a bit too big for his boots since he got that promotion."

It is the equivalent to the American saying "too big for your britches"

Pretty much Mundus is saying Dante thinks he is the sh*t which could imply that Sparda defeated him and sealed away the demon world, thus Sparda thought he was the best.....in fact that is the best way to describe DMC Dante & DMC Sparda.

loool im well aware of the english language i am British XD. im saying Sparda probably was the bad ass we all knew. but tried to do too much at once or something that got him killed. hence too big for his own boots.

I just hope whatever they do, Sparda and Eva get more of a role in this game than they did in the original series. They were always just word of mouth. I want to see them, even if it's in a flashback.

In DMC1 You saw a picture of Eva and in a flashback you hear Eva's voice but don't see anything and I don't know why DMC never do flashbacks and Sparda's looks differ game by game, in DMC1 there was silhouette of Sparda and Dante turned into him, in DMC1 & DMC3 Dante got a costume that made him look like a human version of Sparda, DMC3 Arkham transformed into Sparda for awhile, in DMC4 the Savoir was modeled after the Sparda or the statue of Sparda, and yup.

It's never actually explained what the f*ck Mundus is. Is he Satan? Is he a lesser demon? Is he a fallen angel?

With the power to create life, Mundus created Sparda and alongside him, created generals for his army. In the original series Dante encounters a few of them. The idea between Mundus and Sparda's separation could be just like Dante and Vergil's separation. A mutual disagreement that winds up having both of them cross swords in the end.

Mundus probably tried to take over a location (human world) that Sparda was connected to. When the demons arrived and issued for Sparda's cooperation, Sparda refused and sent them into a frenzy and word got out to Mundus. When one of Mundus's generals was defeated trying to capture Sparda, Mundus must've declared war and placed a bounty on Sparda's head. Sparda uses his ability to shift planes and settles into the human world for years.

Traversing in and out of the human world to cover ground or rest. Things didn't really heat up until Sparda's ability to shift planes was shared and Mundus found out another way into the human world, I'm assuming it was Sparda's demonic heritage. Surprised by this, Sparda was ambushed by the demons and his family was put at risk. Eva is left to look after Vergil while Sparda went to go help the people in his city fight off the demons. That's when Sparda knew he had to make a power move now, so he went into the demon world. Now, Sparda finds out from Mundus that it's Sparda's very own demonic heritage that led Mundus that far into the humanworld and for this Mundus thanks him (cocky bastard). Once Sparda defeats Mundus, Sparda realizes he can't live the life he wants to live but he can let those he's connected himself with live theirs. He returns to Eva for a final goodbye. Sparda goes back to the portal to seal himself, ignorant to the fact that he's just left two keys into the demonworld and out of the demonworld for Mundus to manipulate. Dante & Vergil.
The biggest thing is that Mundus knew that Sparda had a son "Vergil", he could sense him as if he were his own kin. The demons sought after Vergil long after Sparda was gone and just when Dante was turning 7 or whatever young age. Mundus didn't want Vergil nor Dante dead, he wanted to use them to reopen the demon portal maybe even control their mentality. (Insert Arkham here) The tale of Sparda lived on to draw both brothers out in search of Sparda's power. Dante refused the power but, Vergil had been tramatized by his mother's death and his inability to do anything about it. He was easily manipulated and so...Dante sought after Vergil, plunging both brothers to open the gate into the demonworld just like Mundus intended.
