After certain people couldn't take a joke, I decided to make it up to them by making a serious thread.
Yes, the weapons are broken as f*ck, This is very noticeable if you spam Arbiter's "Trinity Smash"
End of story, case closed.
The real question we should be asking ourselves is. Does this really effect the gameplay?
And in my honest opinion the answer is no, the game is very good on it's own merits. What it lacks in CHALLENGING satisfactory gameplay, it makes up for in PURE satisfactory gameplay.
Here, allow me to explain,
I could NEVER feel any satisfaction from the Royal guard in the original series, and as we all know, the Evade mechanic was useless.
in DmC, they fix this so that Evade has a use and parrying was awesome as f*ck. So whenever I parry, instead of getting the rush of adrenaline (I still don't get how you get adrenaline from a freaking video game.) I get a rush of satisfaction, the feeling that I just owned my opponent with their own weapon.
Do I really care that my weapon is overpowered? Not Really, it's doing what hack and slash's are supposed to. making you feel like an invincible BAMF. Even Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden gave you this feeling if you are able to rack up a combo.
So while the game may lack SERIOUS challenge, it makes up for it in the end with another thing that made Devil May Cry great.
(Note: This still doesn't excuse the fact that Dante both acts and looks like a swagfag, but in the end I think it is worth mentioning)
