Lucifer Blades in Photoshop

came across this image while at Devil's Lair...

for any pro Pshoppers out there, how exactly did s/he draw those blades?

i'm not a total nub at photoshop, if you tell me to smudge or texture something i can manage, but how do you think s/he did it, and if you think you know or can, can you write me up a little tutorial?

I'd say obviously just cropping them out from the screenshot, then maybe making the layer slightly transparent, so you can see the new background through them. Then I would have messed with the levels to make them brighter.

.....to be honest everything I do on photoshop is just trial and error - until it looks right.

Nice idea for a pic tho - one of the slightly less scary cosplayes I've come across! ^_^

Yep , Source is from a screenshot by getting the rest of the screenshot(from blades) transparent to a background.

I dont think they were drawn.
