Months ago, I said that I was working on a sequel to my what if fic, Kekkaishi: Power. Now, that sequel is finally finished. Procrastination played a big part in this... But it's finally done, so enjoy, comment, criticize if you must, but please read.

Sumimura slowly crept into his house. Since it was after dark, he was hoping his father, Shuji, was still asleep. He looked at Yomi. "Alright, you can come in. Tell Yoki to get rid of the rock in the backyard, then it'll be big enough for him."
Yomi nodded and turned to Yoki. She spoke softly in a hushed voice. "Yoki, go get rid of that boulder in the backyard, alright?"
Yoki nodded. He stepped around the house and picked up the boulder quietly, and carted it off into the middle of the woods where no one would find it. He walked back as quietly as he could. "It is done." He said, hushed.
Sumimura smirked. "You don't have to be quiet. Only Kekkaishi and those in tune with the demon world can see and hear you. Now go to the backyard. You'll get to stay there for the time being." Yoki wordlessly walked to the backyard and sat down in the corner, closing his eyes.
Sumimura looked inside. The lights were off, and he could hear snoring. "Alright Yomi, come on." Sumimura said as Yomi followed him soundlessly. "You can sleep in my room. I'll sleep on the floor."
Sumimura said with a broad smile on his face. Yomi's face remained motionless. "Fine." She said distantly.
Sumimura rolled his eyes. "A thank you would suffice."
Suddenly, the lights flicked on and Sumimura's father was standing at the light switch, looking rather disdainfully at the two of them. "Sumimura, what are you doing? With a girl, no less?"
Sumimura looked around a bit. "Uh, you see... I uh... Um..."
Yomi sighed. "He found me wandering around, and offered help. I asked if he could give me shelter. Is that okay, sir?"
Shuji nodded. "Fine. How long is she staying?"
Sumimura took a deep breath. "Indefinitely, father."
Shuji looked at Sumimura, then to Yomi. "I couldn't possibly refuse such a beautiful young woman our hospitality. See to it that she is comfortable, alright?"
Sumimura nodded. "Y-yes, father!" He took Yomi's hand and led her to his room. He lay on the large, soft bed and sighed. "Tomorrow, we fix the school, alright?"
Yomi nodded. "Yoki would want to repent for what he's done anyway." She then smiled slightly maliciously. "And you said I got the bed."
Sumimura's face was one that seemed to say "Oh... Right." He got off the bed and onto the floor. Yomi kicked off her sandals and flopped onto the bed. They both fell asleep at roughly the same time.
------------------------------------------------------------
The next morning, Sumimura woke up late. Yomi had already left, and was nowhere to be found. Sumimura looked around everywhere in the house, even futily looking in the closets. He sighed. "Are you kidding me...?" He thought out loud.
His little brother, Toshimori, tugged at his gi. "If you're looking for the new girl, she said she'd be at the lake taking a bath." Sumimura pinched his forehead. It's so like her to just leave like that... He thought. He looked at the backyard. Yoki was gone as well. Guess he went with Yomi. Sumimura thought. He put his sandals on and walked out to the lake, passing by Tokine's house on the way.
Tokine's expression hadn't changed a bit, as usual. "I still think that demon will cause nothing but trouble." She said dryly.
Sumimura shook his head. "No, no he won't. Yomi and Yoki are fine, I just know it."
Tokine sighed. "If you say so, Sumimura." They walked towards the lake, secluded in the forest. Only a select few, such as Sumimura's family, were privy to it's existence. Sumimura had been right. Yoki had followed Yomi. Yomi and Yoki were sitting next to the lake's side, but not in the water.
Sumimura walked up to them and offered a greeting. "Hey. Why did you guys just up and run off without telling me?"
Yomi smiled. "Because you were still asleep."
Sumimura's expression went dry. "Oh." Was all he managed to say. "Well, wake me up next time."
Yoki grinned. "I would have, but Yomi told me not to." He grinned wider, showing his fangs. "Besides, you had a long night, what with me almost killing you and all."
Sumimura smirked confidently. "I could've taken you."
Tokine smacked him on the back of his head. "Be realistic, Sumimura. He could've killed both of us."
Sumimura grumbled and looked at Tokino with a dry expression. "I could've beaten him with one hand tied behind my back."
Yoki responded to that by wrapping his tail around Sumimura's wrist and putting it behind his back. "Oh really now?" He asked mockingly.
Sumimura sighed. "No, not really." He said reluctantly.
Yoki let go of his wrist. "I thought so." Sumimura took off the outer garb of his gi and jumped in the water, motioning for Yomi and Yoki to follow. Yomi and Yoki looked at each other and nodded. Yomi took off the outer garb of her kimono and threw off her sandals, then stepped slowly into the warm lake water. Yoki followed right after her, and sat down in the middle of the lake at the deepest part, half of his torso still out of the water. He closed his eyes and sighed. "It's the simple things in life that I was never able to enjoy until now..." He opened one eye. Yomi was looking away. Perfect. He thought maliciously. He flicked his finger and drenched Yomi with a hail of water.
Yomi shrieked and turned around quickly. Yoki grinned. "Sorry, didn't know you were there." He said in a sarcastic tone. Yomi tried to splash Yoki, but it didn't even reach where she had wanted it to. Yoki chuckled. "Are you trying to get the water in my eyes, Yomi?" He stood up, smirking. "I find that an impossible dream, at best." He bumped his head on something solid as he was getting up and rubbed his head, looking up. Sumimura had created a barrier under the water and then moved it above Yoki. Yoki's eyes widened as he realized his inevitable fate.
Sumimura grinned playfully. "Kai!" He yelled, and the barrier was dispelled, pouring it's contents onto Yoki.
He grunted and rubbed his eyes. "Alright, alright. Perhaps not so impossible after all." He grinned. "I admit defeat."
Sumimura laughed. "Good."
Yoki looked at him evilly. "For now." He added ominously.
Sumimura's eyes seemed to almost shrink. "That does NOT inspire confidence." He said in a small voice.
Yoki grinned darkly. "It shouldn't." With a wave of his arm, a wave of water came crashing down on Sumimura. When he surfaced again, all he could hear was Yoki's laughter. He sputtered and looked around. Yomi was trying not to laugh, and even Tokine was snickering. Sumimura's expression went dry as a desert. He got out of the lake, picked up his garb and put it back on, then sat down next to one of the trees.
Yomi rolled her eyes and looked at Tokine. "Does he always act like that?" She said dryly.
Tokine sighed. "Yeah, he's like a little kid sometimes. Always a handful. Can't deny his skill as a Kekkaishi, though."
Sumimura lifted his head, smiling. "I heard that, Tokine. Don't think for a second that you're gonna deny saying that, either."
Tokine sighed. "I didn't say anything."
Sumimura shook his head. "Uh uh, my proof is right here." He said confidently, pointing at his ears.
They stayed at the lake for a long while. Until nightfall, even. It was the first break that Sumimura had given himself in a long time, and he enjoyed it. He was sure that Yomi, Yoki, and Tokine enjoyed it as well, even if two of those three didn't exactly readily show it. Sumimura started walking back home with the others in tow until an idea struck him. "Oh, I almost forgot!" He exclaimed, stopping.
Tokine stepped in front of him. "It better be important, Sumimura." She said, slightly annoyed.
Sumimura nodded. "Yeah, it's important. We were gonna fix the school today, remember?"
Yomi nodded. "He said something about that yesterday."
Yoki stepped forward. "I shall help as much as I can, Kekkaishi."
Sumimura nodded, then looked at Tokine. "There's no one there, right?"
Tokine thought for a moment. "Yeah, I think so. I mean, it is a weekend." She then sighed and looked at Sumimura. "You're gonna drag me along, aren't you?"
Sumimura smirked. "Of course. We sort of need your help. I mean, you know the Shuufuku technique, and I don't. You're the only one who can fix it."
Tokine's expression was unmoving, as always. "Alright, fine. Let's go."
They walked to the school. Tokine was right, there weren't any people around, inside or not. The tower was still fallen on the ground, and the three craters Yoki had left in the roof during his power craze still existed. Sumimura thought for a second. "Yoki, pick up the tower's top and place it back, then hold it steady."
Yoki split his tail into five and grabbed the tower fragment, then placed it back, holding it as steadily as he could. "Now what?" He asked.
Sumimura held one hand out. "Just hold it until I say so."
He turned to Tokine. "If you would do the honors."
Tokine nodded. "Hoi! Joso! Ketsu!" She placed a barrier around the tower fragment, keeping it steady. "Shuufuku! Kai!" She said loudly. The fragment seemed to weld itself back to the tower's body almost instantaneously as the barrier disappeared.
Sumimura snapped his fingers. "Alright, Yoki. You can let go."
Yoki let go and formed his tail back into one. "Easy as that." He said, obviously pleased with himself.
Sumimura walked up to him. "Now take Tokine to the roof so she can fix the craters in it."
Yoki nodded. "Tokine, come here." Tokine walked up to him and he picked her up gently, placing her on his shoulder. "Hang on tight." He said warningly. She grabbed a lock of his hair for balance. Yoki jumped up onto the grating on the roof, then leapt over it. He knelt down to let Tokine off his shoulder. She then repaired the craters, one at a time. When she was done, Yoki picked her back up and jumped off the roof, hitting the ground soundlessly.
"Finished." Tokine reported, leaping off of Yoki's shoulder. She stepped next to Sumimura and whispered in his ear. "I didn't want to say this to his face, but Yoki seriously smells." Sumimura laughed. "Don't all demons?" He whispered back. Tokine just regarded him coldly, as per usual.
Sumimura clapped once, rubbing his hands together. "I think we all did great. Now, how about going back for some much deserved..." He paused to yawn. "...Rest?" He finished, blinking once and rubbing his eyes. Yomi and Yoki nodded. Tokine had already gone back to her house without warning. Sumimura led the two back to his house. Yoki went to the backyard again to sleep for a while. Sumimura and Yomi went to his room, Sumimura again sleeping on the floor. They both drifted off to sleep soon enough.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Yoki awoke suddenly, feeling a strange pulse of a familiar origin pass through him. His eyes widened. It cannot be... He was killed... He thought, both excited and afraid. Could it truly be him, after so long? He got up slowly, and contemplated telling Sumimura and Yomi. He decided against it. There was no reason for them to possibly get hurt. He crept through the town, then the forest. The demonic pulse got stronger the closer he got to the mountain in the distance. When he finally reached the base, the power started to affect him gradually, his eyes once again glowing a ruby red color. He put a hand to his head, running the fingers through his dirty white hair. This is insane... I should go back. He kept thinking, but never once did his body obey his mind's command. He brushed the hair out of his eyes and pressed onwards, walking behind the mountain.
He gasped when he saw what he'd been both hoping and fearing. A demon who looked exactly like him, but taller, slightly more muscular, with reddish skin and eyes that glowed a brilliant sapphire blue. The other demon turned around just as Yoki pressed his back against the mountainside, obscuring him from the other demon's view. It is true... He thought feverishly. Momori... You're alive. Yoki turned back around the corner to look, but Momori had vanished. Yoki walked to where Momori had been standing just seconds ago. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. I must've been hallucinating... He thought, trying to convince himself that what he'd seen wasn't real. But he couldn't shake the feeling that it was true. Momori was alive. And he was close by.
Suddenly, Yoki felt the presense behind him. He turned around only to see Momori staring down at him, his eighteen foot frame easily towering over Yoki's own fifteen. He smiled broadly and spoke with a growling voice. "Little brother, it's been so long."
Yoki took a step back. "You died, one hundred years ago. I remember. How did you survive that raid?"
Momori laughed. "I got smart and ran, little brother. Something you didn't do. Something mother and father didn't do either."
Yoki growled. "Kaki and Masi would be ashamed of you for leaving at such a critical time."
Momori smiled evilly. "Doesn't matter now, young one. Mother and father are dead."
Yoki gritted his teeth. "You sound elated at that fact." He said with disdain in his tone.
Momori nodded. "Indeed I am, actually. They always babied you around, just because you were the youngest. They totally ignored me. But now, I'll kill you and take my rightful place as the most powerful in the Sosori line."
Yoki scoffed. "The Sosoris would be ashamed of you, Momori."
Momori's face tightened. "What do you know, little brother? Nothing. You're just a bumbling, know-nothing-"
"Not anymore!" Yoki yelled, cutting Momori off. "I'm not like that anymore. I'll never go back to what I was. Now I'm powerful! I'm smarter! I'm faster! I'm stronger! I'll never return to that shell of what I am!" He clenched both fists and got into a fighting stance. "I will prove to you that I am stronger." He said defiantly. "I will prove my power."
Momori crossed his arms, an overconfident smirk on his face. "Are you sure, little brother? Can you kill your bigger brother? The one who's always protected you? Who guided you?"
Yoki scoffed. "You never cared about me."
Momori sighed and got into a fighting stance as well. "You're right, little brother, I don't care. Never did. And I'll care even less when you're dead!" He yelled the last word as he rushed forward, a punch ready to collide with Yoki's head. Yoki moved his arm just in time to block the punch, and swung hard with it, knocking Momori back. He leapt forward and jumped on Momori, throwing him to the ground. He raised his arm up for a punch, but Momori got both legs onto Yoki's gut and kicked hard, knocking him away. Yoki coughed, trying to scramble back to his feet. Momori strode over to him calmly and picked him up by the hair. "So weak!" He yelled in his brother's face, then threw him into the mountainside. "You'll never reach my level of power!"
"That's not true..." Yoki said, bleeding from a large gash on his face, which quickly healed shut. "I don't even need to take power from the land to defeat you."
Momori laughed loudly, his chest heaving. "A being of the earth not using the strength of the land? You're both weak AND foolish!" He said, cracking his knuckles. "I know I'd never be that stupid." Momori said, looking away for a brief moment.
Yoki screamed and charged forward as Momori was off guard, planting a fist in the side of Momori's skull. Momori was sent back several meters, crashing into a large tree. "You... Will pay for doing that to me!" Momori said angrily, wiping the purplish blood from the corner of his mouth.
"Wrong." Yoki said, splitting his tail into multiple segments and wrapping them around Momori. "I won't pay for anything anymore. Especially not from you!" He said, pulling Momori closer.
"Then I have no choice..." Momori said, his eyes glowing brighter. Yoki's eyes widened as Momori's muscles expanded and a blue aura surrounded his body. He tore through Yoki's tails, making Yoki scream in pain. Before the tail could regenerate, Momori grabbed the stub and pulled, throwing Yoki behind him. He then pulled forward, slamming Yoki into the ground. He did this several more times and then threw Yoki into the side of the mountain, letting him slide off and stain the side of the mountain with his blood. Yoki could barely move, and it took all his effort to just stand again. He turned, bleeding from wounds that didn't heal. He was too weak to regenerate. "I told you you were weak." He said, stepping slowly and deliberately towards Yoki. Yoki took a step back, then another and another until he felt his back touch the blood-soaked stone. Momori stepped closer and closer, a wicked grin splitting his face. "Now you will be destroyed." He said darkly.
Yoki closed his eyes, concentrating on the land. He used it's power to heal his wounds, simultaneously creating a barrier of earth around himself. "I am far from defeated." Yoki said, standing ready as the barrier crumbled. His muscles were larger, but not by much. He didn't want to rely on power other than his own to finish a family duel. Momori laughed again.
"Pathetic. You decide to take power after all, yet you're stubborn enough to refuse taking it all." Momori's eyes turned from a bright sapphire to a shining white as he absorbed his limit in power, expanding his muscles even more and creating a crackling aura of white electricity around him. He charged forward with a titan of a punch readied. This was exactly what Yoki wanted. He side-stepped the punch, letting Momori run into the mountain and get his arm stuck. He grabbed Momori's head and pulled, ripping him forcefully from the wall and breaking Momori's back as they fell. Momori groaned, half dead.
"I told you, I only need my own power to defeat you." Yoki said, standing over the defeated Momori. Momori looked up at Yoki, the white glow disappearing from his eyes as he painfully looked at his younger brother.
"Brother... Kill... Me..." He said, his eyes only half opened, the life draining from his body. His body turned back to normal, his muscles shrinking as his power seeped back into the land. Yoki knelt down next to his brother.
"You know I can't do that." He said, his voice low. He put a hand to his brother's chest, transferring the power from his body to Momori, healing his broken back. "I can't even see you die." Yoki said, letting his hair fall into his eyes to hide his tears. Momori coughed and stood slowly, looking at his younger brother.
"Thank you, but know this brother..." Momori said, looking at Yoki. "Next time you see me, I will not accept such mercy again." He then turned, looking over his shoulder at Yoki. "And with this, I take my leave." And with that, he began to walk.
Yoki watched until Momori left his sight. Then he looked up at the now starlit sky. "I'm glad you're alive brother..." Yoki said, falling to the ground exhausted. He drifted off to a peaceful sleep.
