Yup, you see that when you beat Nelo Angelo for the third time (you aquire his amulet which shows that he is indeed Dante's brother, for they both have the momento that their mother gave them).

Just done the last nelo fight last week but havn't got
any further coz just got final fantasy 12

we think so, can't tell for sure, but it seems that way. if you kill over 100 demons in the credits of dmc3 it shows a short movie of vergil seeing mundus then he runs at him. we can only assume mundus defeated vergil...

just a question but how much did everyone get on the credits minigame,the most,just a little curious, the most i got was 109would've been 111 if i killed the two hellvanguards

You know that vergil is nero angelo, because in DMC3 SE you can unlock nero angelo costume for vergil
