Improving Ebony & Ivory

After completing DMC a few times, I was impressed with the art style/direction and combat system of this reboot.
So feeling all nostalgic I thought I would give DMC3 and 4 a run through for old times sake, and I noticed that E&I were very strong in DMC3 compared to the latter.
I fell in love with the gunslinger, although be it, not as powerful as other weapons, but it looked pretty and impressive.

Unfortunately, I haven't used the fire arms much in DMC because they are incredibly weak for my play style, but I have seen some really impressive videos on this forum (the viewtiful one I think).

I would love to see new moves for E&I and a damage buff, either in a patch for this current game (if possible) or in DMC 2, if there was much of a demand for it.

Possible E&L abilities for DMC 2

  • Twosome time is a must for me, if they increase the damage output with a spray fire capability
  • Intertwine combos between Osiris, Rebellion and Aquila using E&I

Just thought I would link the video on a gun scene in Equilibrium (Not my own), to expand on the ideas of gunplay in a new DMC title, also, instead of humans there would be demons obviously.
  • Different fire mode capabilities, i.e. using different ammo, such as triggered explosive shots, and removing the 'Kablooey' completely, which in turn could be filled by a different weapon (for DMC 2)
I believe Ebony & Ivory are relics of the series along with the rebellion, and feel they need more of a purpose during a fight.
Would be good to hear all your views on gunplay in DMC, if you like/hate it, would love to know.
Cheers.

I thought E and I were pretty okay in this game. Decent cancelling mechanic and Ricoshot open up a few combo possibilities. The rainstorm moves are pretty fun and seem to have more practicality for casual players.

Ebony and Ivory were never intended to be designed as powerhouses for destroying your enemy as quickly as possible.

I actually like how DMC2 Twosome time was done, and i would like to see it with this DmC2 (if it happens) the thing i didn't like about twosome time in pt3 was you couldnt move. DMC2 you just had to line yourself up with two enemies and Dante would do a trick shot. My personal favorite was the shot gun in DMC2..... that game just had so much style.....to bad that everything else really sucked

We need Two-some Time, that's all.

Btw, Ebony and Ivory now break the enemies guard, something they did not do in earlier games.

Yeah, the movements animations for Dante in that game were something else.

I will have another go at using them for combo possibilities, it just never clicked for me in this game.
You are right that they were never power houses, but it would be nice for me personally to see E&L play more of a role with other weapons, again, that's what I would like to see.

@Wallenb I never played the first or second games, I started on the third. Yeah on the third and fourth games you were a sitting duck.

@Ruisu Nice I will check that out

hell yea, You could use ebony while holding the shotgun! every combo with the shotgun ended with a different shot gun attack!
I wish neoDante would of been able to dodge like Dante from DMC2 too.

man now i want to play DMC2...but i know how i'll feel after 10 minutes...:|

Also, in gunslinger style E&I could break enemy guards. For some reason the style makes his bullets stronger

edit: i would like to be able to do reverse rainstorm off and enemy step too

That's because in DMC3 gunslinger increased the damage and bullet output for E&I in normal shots (The Rapid Shot). In DMC4, that was gone, and only two-some time and honeycomb fire could break enemies guard.

In DmC, most of those elements were mashed together in normal fire.
