I'm going to make a Combo highlight video, submit your Combo Videos!

Hello all! As another project to test my editing skills, I will be highlighting the combo skills of people. Submit your combo videos and I will select a bunch to include within the video.

I would, but I have neither a video capture card, nor a rig that's powerful enough to record it.

I know this post is kind of pointless, but for the longest time, I've wanted to capture gameplay vids, and I've never been able to. Oh well.

Don't pay me any mind, I'm just venting.

there are a ton of DmC combo videos out there, and it's been noted that a lot of them seem to follow a nearly identical formula. I found this image a while back, and while its tone is obviously very sarcastic, it still serves some practical uses. If you want your video to be unique, break out of the formula listed below.

also for the love of god, go easy on the VFX. I can't tell you how sick I am of trying to watch a combo video and having to sit through 3 minutes of nauseating camera shifts, color flips, screen shakes, and game cutscenes. This was something people did for combo videos in all DMC games, and I'd really like to see combo videos be about your combos, and not about your special effects.

I'm guilty of abusing overdrive >_<

I love that move >_<
a lot of us are :x
a good combo video takes some creativity. If you find a way to look stylish against a single enemy without infinitely grapple chaining it into the air, or take down a giant horde of enemies without abusing aquila's huge area grab and twirl attacks, people are going to take note, and it's going to be a better video because of it.

Please watch some of my videos and give me your honest feedback if you have the time, it'll be very welcome to help me improve.

pretty good, love the tricks with prop and shredder. A good way to make a combo video is to set challenges for yourself. For example, stay in the air for an entire fight without grappling, clear a large horde without aquila, try to juggle an enemy by having three or more active weapon effects on it at the same time (or time a combo to end right as an existing effect detonates) if you place arbitrary limitations on yourself, that's when people can make really creative things.

To this day my favorite DMC combo videos involve people deciding they'll do things like handle an entire boss fight without ever touching the ground, or clear an entire wave of enemies without using any melee weapons. As long as you can keep it fast paced and looking cool, whatever you can think to do is good

That flowchart applies to UltimeSon.

Actual DmC players:

N472a (overall effectiveness)

Cedrus0511 (great charges, creativity)

Soupie/ReddishTailing (similar to Cedrus)

Nisannka (Very creative ground juggles, a ridiculous Vergil player)

MarioTaz (stylish use of moves)

AngelMode/MasterRajuu (amazing buffers and cancels)

Michellegun201 (stylish Kablooey use)

I know, right? And people say that there aren't players as good as Brea out there.
hey now, I'm a pretty huge brea fanboy. Show me a combo video where they clear an entire boss fight without touching the ground or using a grapple (or large enemy wave, I'm not sure if clearing a boss like that is possible in DmC) and then they can be as good as brea :p

Here's a pretty impressive take down of Vergil. The really amazing sequence starts at the 2:40 mark.

I actually saw one where they took down the Hunter without touching the ground... Oppressed Writer, you think you can find that vid? I actually have no idea where to look, sorry. :(

Well, I think you'd have to ask to do things that are specifically difficult in DmC, as opposed to judging it against the challenges one would think are difficult for DMC4, but I'll try to find the video, staying in the air is not particularly hard in DmC, because its a natural extension of combat, but for example, in my own video, there is a part where I take out multiple harpies without touching the ground, and this is a bit more difficult than it looks on DMD. Skip to the 1:55 mark to see what I mean.

hah, yeah that was pretty awesome, some clever takedowns there. Not a huge fan of the music choice though

I'm going to try to do my next combo video not using the official ost, I know combichrist isn't everyone's cup of tea, and while I enjoyed the songs in the game immensely, man have I listened to some of them WAY too much. And it was especially bad when I was editing, that song in my combo vid is dead to me. I should probably do a poll on what song people want for the next vid I do.
