Then who could have been making DmC right now?
I think it is safe to say that Capcom did not just pick Ninja Theory because they felt like it. I think they saw Ninja Theory's artistic prowess and storytelling abilities and decided to ask them to reboot an aging franchise.
But, who else could Capcom have been considering? Platinum Games? Epic Games? Insomniac? Ubisoft? Naughty Dog? MrRandomLolz?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? (Okay, maybe not him, but still )
If you can't think of anything, then who would you have asked to make the Devil May Cry reboot?
Pretend that you never saw or heard of DmC: Devil May Cry and had to pick a company to make something completely new.
Personally, I would actually have picked Ninja Theory. I loved Heavenly Sword and talked with my friends about how DMC3 combined with Heavenly Sword would be the greatest game ever. I actually made a thread about this a while back.

they've never written anything on their own before, the girl that wrote overlord wrote heavenly sword, she had to scrap basically everything they wrote before.

I think platinum games would be the only one who woul wor on DMC if asked because all your other choices would just make a new ip to fll that niche because its les bagagge snd they can cut out the middleman(Capcom).

Insomniac wouldnt because they rather own their own ips and Naughty dog is a Sony exclusive eveloper

maybe they picked NT because it was cheaper; they did that with a few of their games... also this is the first time NT are making their own story Heavenly Sword and Enslaved were rewritten by other people

Capcom wanted a game with more emphasis on presentation and narrative, and so they went to NT because they are actually good at those two things. There really aren't any other Western developers that are known for that, other than Naughty Dog, and they're sorta wrapped up.

People here are making it seem like they thought NT wrote good stories, so Capcom wanted them to write one for DmC. This is so not the case :/ NT can take a story, and present it in an extremely beautiful fashion. Whether they write the story themselves is rather irrelevant.

I wanted Suda 51 of no more heroes to do it because Suda 51 has a odd creative sensibility that the series could use. Plus Travis and the rest of characters had a cool look which Dante needed.

I wanted Atlus because persona 4 had a cool story.

I wanted Square enix because I was a fan of Kingdom Hearts and seeing Dante with a Gajillion zippers would be cool.

I wanted Sucker Punch/Naughty Dog/Insomniac games because Rachet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, and sly cooper were my favorite games.

I wanted Rockstar because Dante's mercenery past felt like something that should be played up more in DMC.

Dante is in love with a girl down the street named Mary in his teenage years, that's where we start..
..................and later when the giant mechs come in to clean up the remaining monkey demons..................................................and then Vergil confesses it was HIM who was phone........................................ and then after Mundus's dying narwhal form magically spews out lucky charms, Dante and Mary (Now named Lady) walk off into the sunset and live happily ever after until Lady gets pregnant
