Pain and pleasure... I've got it all.
Outlaw Star is a good place to start, i'd always suggest JoJo's Bizarre Adventure as well even though it doesn't fill either role, if you end up going for that then make sure to watch the 2012 series, not the 1993 OVA as it's a bit of a jumbled mess.
There's also stuff like Berserk, that'll fill your demonic anime quota no problem.
Have you watched movies like Akira, Vampire Hunter D and Spriggan? That's some good stuff right there.

I'm with Rayl though. Check out Outlaw Star if you like Cowboy Bebop. It's one of my favs.
Speaking of movies like Akira though, I actually re-watched Akira yesterday because I haven't seen it in forever. I also found the original theatrical dubbing and that was pretty cool.
