The title is not a joke. I am very serious. Maybe I am crazy, I don't ever intend to be a contrarian. I have a lot of fun with this game, and I find many of the criticisms are often fabricated or are the players fault. The people who hate it are told before playing the game to spam guns, they do so, and then wonder why they're not having fun. That would be like playing a fighting game and choosing a boring OP character over a fun mid character and then complaining the game is boring. Not to mention, in DMC1, if you activate DT then guns do an insane amount of damage. if you look at the game from the perspective of a 2003 player where DMC3+ did not exist, then DMC2 brought really great things into the series.

When you beat Hard mode, you unlock Trish who has the DMC1 moveset which is incredibly fun to play as and some of the moves actually feel like they control better than in DMC1. Roundtrip for example is much better in DMC2 than DMC1. She has some very cool attacks of her own too that you can perform combos with. I recommend people watch DMC2 combo mads, because they're quite interesting.

Lucia is actually quite fun to play as once you learn how to perform her entire moveset too. I'd rather play as her than play as V in DMC5. One thing I like about DMC2 is that unlike DMC5, none of the characters are boring to play as. I can't express in words how much I despise playing as V in DMC5 and honestly he is the reason I hate playing through the campaign of that game.

Bloody Palace mode was introduced in DMC2 and it's actually really crazy sometimes. You can end up fighting three despair embodied's at once at times and for a first attempt it is quite good, even if it is too long. Mission select mode was also introduced. There are more costumes than before, and weapon switching on the fly too.

Traversing throughout the missions is much better and smoother. I adore DMC1, but in DMC1 rolling is basically useless, it's better to just jump than roll in that game. DMC2 solves that problem. I really like that you can run on walls too. Air combos now exist in a much better form, and there's even pseudo jump cancelling that allows you to air combo for a long time in a loop if you so wish. There's far more air combo options than DMC1. The game also introduced moves like fireworks which were improved later on.

The quicksilver amulet is really cool to use when performing combos too.

I hope I don't sound like I am bashing DMC1 here because I really do love it, and I do consider it much better than DMC2, but there is no denying that 2 brought in a lot of cool stuff that rightfully came back in later games.

I've played DMC2 for years and I have always really enjoyed it. It's the worst game in the franchise yes, but that doesn't mean it's a bad game. I'd rather play it over 95% of action games out there. People who say DMC2 is a horrible game, have clearly never played a horrible game in their life. When I think of a horrible game, I think of those crappy PS2 movie based games that were the worst type of shovelware. Yes it is easy to talk about the flaws of the game and I'd say I know the flaws better than most other players out there, but there's a lot to love too. I'd rate the game a 6.5/10 If I had to make a tier list of the Devil May Cry games it would be DMC3 > DMC1 = DMC4 > DMC5 > DmC > DMC2

Worth watching:

DMC 2 was never a bad game, it added a lot of acrobatics and expanded movesets and majin dt etc.

The problem was with enemy design, level design and story. In those regards in is beyond underwhelming. As a DMC game u can say the same, but as an action and hack and slash game it is pretty decent.

I actually like the level design, but I agree with you with enemy design, and especially boss design. The only really good boss in DMC2 is the Despair Embodied
