When you really stop to look at what people can do with Dante in DMC4 you can really start to appreciate why some people are pessimistic about DmC. It is going to change no doubt about it but Dante was (strictly only talking about gameplay here) just starting to come into his own and realise the mind boggling potential DMC had to be the most stylish game ever especially with the introduction of on the fly style switching.

Just becaue I was not willing to put in the massive amounts of practise needed to do him proper justice doesn't mean he was not the pinnacle of what the series grew to become. Dante is f**king awesome I could just never afford to give him the time and devotion he needs to be properly appreciated. Plus he annoys me as a character now.

From what I have seen NT are more interested in reinventing the feel of the time, attitude and setting rather than turning the game itself into something different so who knows there is no proof yet but maybe it won't actually change that much gameplay wise.

Yeah I think the game is going to be more simplistic than Dante in DMC4. I still prefer DMC3 Dante just because there are more weapons and gun combinations, and I preferred all the weapons in 3 as well. But the style switching was a big step and allows for some more advanced styles of play. Nero was a dumbed-down version, very limited options in comparison, and I think that's what appeals to a lot of casual gamers (not that I like that phrase, but it sounds nicer than "inferior gamers")

I think it's a similar situation with Bayonetta, there is a lot in that game that people don't put the time in to fully appreciate, including the dodge off-set and the total number of possible combinations of weapons (and combinations of combinations - as you get 2 sets, each with their own unique combo attacks per combination)

i can definitely see where you're both coming from. quite honestly, i liked dante in dmc4 gameplay-wise, but ya got a point on weapon selection. plus any game that lets you slam out power chords while bats fly around and smash the enemies is epic win any day. lol

Yeah I have been so addicted to Shuraba for so long now the idea of swapping it for something else doesn't even register. I just couldn't bare to let go of it now or use anything else for that matter other than maybe the nunchucks.
