For a game that is all about combos...

Why didn't Capcom or NT bother implementing custom combos or a 'make your own combo' system? It'd be fun tinkering with stuff like how you begin or end a combo and tweak how some of attacks work like attack angles and stuff. Imagine the possibilities if such a system were to exist in a dmc game.

But then what would be the point of switching an weapon at any time you want and break your suggested "make a combo" system when you really need to?

But the game is all about creating your own combos. It's a free-form combat gameplay, not a dial-a-combo kind of game, it gives you abilities and you use them as you wish to create our own combos, like in a fighting game, that's what DMC was always about. This feature is already there lol

it would be nice to upgrade your combos that added different "pause" sections, just like Nero had

They don't. They give you preset combos that you chain together. For example, rebellions normal combo ends with a swing that simply knocks the enemy away. With a combo edit system, I could change the last of the combo to an attack that has more vertical knock back. I could also replace helm-breaker with an attack similar to it but has more diagonal range. Get what I mean?

I could also replace helm-breaker with an attack similar to it but has more diagonal range.
But you can also do that, you don't have to end Hacker with the last hit, you can replace it with a launcher, prop, flush, inverse rainstorm, anything really. You don't have to comit to your combos like in a dial-a-combo kind of game.

I don't see what the point would be though. If you did add pauses whenever you want, they would have to animate that combo and thus would mean it's not your own combo. It'd be circle. Bayonetta was awesome with the insane amount of combos that game has
Attack Attack Attack Attack Attack
Attack Pause Attack Attack Attack
Attack Attack Pause Attack Attack
Attack Attack Attack Pause Attack Attack

So far this game has a lot of potential but I'm not going to say "they should implement this or they should have that" because we don't have the full game yet and we will be able to upgrade.

Edit: Gbraga has it right
You can do:
Rebellion Combo 1 (attack attack attack attack)
but it gives you the ability to mix it up.
(Rebellion)Attack (Angel mode) Attack attack Prop...
(Rebellion)Attack Attack [pause] (Angel mode) Attack (which actually gives you Angel Mode combo 2 (attack attack pause attack) but you can start with 2 hits of Rebellion pause into Angel mode and do Angel Mode combo 2. This game has A LOT of options just from the demo.

I'm only talking about changing certain moves of a preset combo. Dial-a-combo games require the use of a 'light attack' and 'heavy attack' button and I don't want that in a dmc game.

Anyway, It seems that I didn't explain my thoughts well enough. I'll try to type something out when I have the time.

To put it simply, we have plenty of attack options now but MORE options can't hurt, right?

Sure, it's always nice to have more moves :)

You should check out Remember Me, btw, I believe the kind of custom combo system you're looking for is there, look for the combat lab video.

In this day and age, I'd take any hack'n'slash or brawler game into consideration since the market so oversaturated with shooters right now.

You're talking about a property customizing feature. That could be cool, actually, but most of the weapons sort of already accomplish that; Hightime launches and can move you up as well, Prop is a launcher that hits multiple times, Shredder is a launcher that also blasts them forward instead of straight up, and Tremor makes the launcher a long-reaching move. Helm Breaker drops you and the enemy down, Rake scoops multiplie enemies up, and Drop drops you and the enemy down, and then puts the enemy back in the air. Trillion Stabs adds multiple hits to the Stinger before the blast back.

I think he meant he would like more pause combos for each weapons like how Nero has 3 different combos on the ground or like Agni and Rudra had a pause combo in a pause combo.

Has no one here ever played GodHand!?

It's that what you're talking about, having the ability to customize your combos to be, for example, AAA=(Diagonal slice+spinning slice+downward slice) and then, if you want having the same button out put to be (Downward+Thrust+Diagonal), Just changing it in the combo customizing menu?

I would say having a kind of slider approach would be cool, having a certain customisable weapon where you can change range, speed, power etc. but of course have a system to balance it out so you can't just put all sliders max and make it so any choice has equal grounds in terms of potential. Maybe also have a few slots to put something like a combo card in that may only work if certain slider/s are within a certain range. Just think of how unique you could make your play style.
However I wouldn't see this happening in a DMC game since it's more about bending those pre-set moves to make stuff happen rather than creating things you want to happen.
