Flipping in the air?

If you look in the DMC combat demo, you'll notice that at 0:48, Dante does this back flip move in the air. So I wonder, what was that to be? Some kind of special move?

Some sort of aerial dodge maybe? Although it's very different from the current one.

It's suppose to be charging up for some special attack. By the way, you double posted.^_^

It may be just part of a late extended Double jump, or perhaps it's an directionless mid-air dodge. Looks pretty neat either way.
