Figuring out Vergil's Devil Trigger... (Prepare for spoilerage~)

Rilgar

I fought the war but the war won't staaaahhhppp...
I've been thinking this over for the night, and I'm still more confused than ever. Given the ending of Vergil's Downfall, I presume it's safe to say that Vergil's DT has been...augmented, I guess you could say?

Nah, who am I kidding; can someone make it clear for me what powers ol' blue now has in DT mode?

I'm assuming he still has Spiral Swords (so, not quite a DT mode, but at least DT related) and Doppelganger, in addition to albino-super-sayian mode. And then there's the small matter of the Chronicles of Vergil comic, which shows him producing a sort-of DBZ-style explosive wave when the onyxes really got him riled up. And then there's the demon-stare-into-submission thing too. Would all this be correct so far?

No idea. But here's my take on it...

Vergil's DT is (from the game's perspective) just a way to change his appearance. The appearance itself however, doesn't rely on the DT meter.

Now, this is where it gets interesting.

Doppelganger and Summoned Swords are both DT-related. But they're not defined as DT.

So, let's look at this from a totally unofficial angle.

Vergil's DT is his doppleganger. His appearance change is just that. A change. Dante's hair also changed (permanently white) after the end of the game, just as it did with Vergil (permanently spiked).

So, you could say that both have "permanent" DT, but still rely on a DT meter limit in order to use their powers.

It sounds confusing, but think of it as a more of a "infection" sense. Because they both overdosed on DT, they both changed, kind of like Wander from "Shadow of the Colossus" (SPOILER the more Colossi (plural form) he slayed, the more corrupted his appearance became until he was almost completely unrecognizable).

Quicksilver + Multi-launch = Dante DT

Doppelganger + Multi-style (Angel/Demon/Human) = Vergil DT

Edit:

I like Vergil's DT (and playstyle for that matter) because his DT doesn't slow down time. I know that slowing down time was the entire point to Quicksilver/DmC DT, but I still like this one better.

It's fast and functional at the same time.

I'm just waiting for someone to make a really good Doppelganger vid. Something that's as well done as that other DmC DMD vid.

That's an excellent take on it, and it makes perfect sense. Dante affirmed the theory too, saying at the end "I don't know who I am anymore." I guess it's true what they say after all; too much of a good thing can be bad.

Yeah, even too much of a "good healthy lifestyle" can be bad, because you start to think to much of yourself, therefore almost guaranteeing a huge ego and therefore, an a-type personality. Sure, you have success as a result, but at what cost?

Oh, and followed.
