"I make the angels scream and the devil cry"
This thread is about a tool that could arguably be used in DMC analysis and I was wondering if you think it could still apply to DmC and therefore help us understand it.
Sorry if it has already been discussed, but it seems that the way characters fought in the devil may cry series always reflected their personality, here are a few examples:
Sorry if it has already been discussed, but it seems that the way characters fought in the devil may cry series always reflected their personality, here are a few examples:
- Vergil is a cold and calculating character which never openly expresses his feelings, when he uses yamato he moves as little as he can, he just does the minimal movements required to kill his enemies, it's a cold and reserved fighting style.
- Nero looses his temper very often (mostly about kyrie) his fighting style is very aggressive and direct, not subtle at all, it expresses his wrath.
- Lady is a human, she is therefore week and has to think about what she does when she fights, it requires a lot of reflection and skill from her if she doesn't want to be killed. It's pretty much illustrated in her bargains with Dante, she is distant, calculating and on a defensive stance.
- Trish doesn't master her feelings, she does stupid things because of emotional impulses like selling sparda to the order of the sword. In DmC 1 she tries to kill Dante in one of those outbursts, stabbing him with a giant word before literally throwing a motorbike at him. She is also meant be (no matter if she really is, she is meant to be) a seducer and as Gloria she uses a fighting style that deeply involves sexual connotations.
- Dante in DMC3 is careless, he fights demons with a piece of pizza in his mouth and doesn't struggle with the enemies, killing them is a game.
