Yeah that scene was epic. But Gilgamesh is always epic, in FFXII he actually got fake swords from other FF games and also dragon quest (i think).

Yeah. Believe it or not, the symbol on Cloud's Buster Sword reads as "fake" or "replica". Gilgamesh seems to have a knack for finding fakes of the swords he's looking for.

It would've been SO cool if he'd pulled out Excalipoor...

Yeah, but instead he takes out Fakes of the buster sword, the gunblade (with a chocobo on it!), the brotherhood and others. I killed him while i was underleveled and forgot to steal the genji set from him.

Wow... I take it you didn't know about the Genji equipment at the time, then? Also, what did Gilgamesh call himself before that fight? Alleyway Jack or something like that?
