Enabling debug mode?

I love debug modes, you get control over major parts of the game which you wouldn't have by default, it's fun, and it is even useful for mod testing.
Onto the point, when I was browsing the ini files of the game I found these lines:

EXEName=DevilGame.exe
DebugEXEName=DEBUG-DevilGame.exe

This can be found in default engine and default engine.update.ini files, and it got me thinking, could the bottom line refer to the exe which if we would start would run the game in debug mode? There was something similar for DMC4 i think, debug mode in-game (or was) but hidden/removed, a patch enabled it again. I'm mainly interested in this because of the features it could have, like area jumping for bloody palace boss runs etc, and maybe, a "start level as Vergil" feature when the DLC is released. But since I'm not into this stuff this is the farest i could go, anyone who has knowledge of these kinds of things and programming/patching who could look into this?
