Does anyone know how the styles rank up?

What exactly builds up the points up for styles as you rank them up? I accidentally wrote over may Dante save so just curious on how to rank up styles fast.

your styles gain experience when you kill enemies
i think each enemy has a set amount of exp to give you
i don't know how much

but i do know that if you use only 1 style it will always get to level 2 by the time you beat the first jester fight

i raked up my styles by following this video

I always assumed it was also related to the actually use of said style. YouTube some videos for areas where you can practice each style and maybe that will help.
