Do you guys think they could be friends?

Short answer: Yes :)

Long answer: Likely Dante, DMC4 for example, would tease Dante for his looks, maybe mock his coat or hair ^_^ but I think their relationship as friends would be as how Dante was to Nero. Likely he'd try to pass on some of his wisdom and play the mentor to younger DmC Dante; have a little sparring fun and genunely hang out, drink bears, eat pizza and be great buddies in the end, even if they wouldn't always see eye-to-eye and mock each other back or forth with some friendly joking banter thrown in the mix too. They'd be great friends.

So yeah, Classic Dante [which ever version you choose] wouldn't be a dick.
 
Old Dante is a pretty chill guy for the most part, or at least not outright hostile to others without a reason to be. New Dante on the otherhand, was a loner prick, at least at the beginning. By the end, I could see him and Old Dante getting along.

I could see some obvious foreshadowing jokes about New Dante thinking Old Dante is cheesy and annoying, while ending up like him. An extended "wig cutscene" you could say.
 
Old Dante will obviously treats New Dante like he did with Nero in DMC4.
So yeah, They could be friends, Even if New Dante was a bit of an ass and has a filthy mouth. old Dante will just be cool about it and kick some demon asses with New Dante.

inb4 someone says old dante will kill donte coz he is awesome lol.
 
I don't think they would hate each other, necessarily, but they would probably antagonize the holy hell out of each other until it ended in a brawl, after which they'd develop a begrudging respect for one another once the bleeding stopped. I don't think they'd really be friends, though, any more than Dante is friends with Nero; he mentors Nero and teases him, but I just don't see them as buddies.

The cracks about each other's clothes would probably be endless and hilarious. But then they would describe what their brothers dress like and have a bonding moment over it while laughing themselves sick, because seriously.
 
I think that given the adversarial approach NT has had in regards to the original series, it'd be remiss if the relationship between the characters didn't reflect that.

There's no reason they couldn't get along. Plenty of us would have liked it if they had treated both the classic series or the fanbase with an iota of respect. If they actually made an effort it could still work.

Like others, I'd say their relationship could be like Nero and Dante. Have a little scuffle, argue, take the **** out of each other, but have a mentor and pupil sort of relationship with some respect for each other.
 
yeah I think they would be friends. I think they would probably take one look at this whole fiasco of a divided fan-base arguing with each other for having different opinions and shake their heads and laugh at us together.
 
lol i think they could be friends but, DMC3 Dante did say he didnt like anyone who talked more than him and we all know DmC Dante has a mouth on him lol but, i really do think they would be cool. I mean DMC3 Dante wasnt mad at the person who shot a freaking rocket at him so yeah.
 
Yeah they would.

DMC3 Dante would think he was a kindred spirit. Dante 1 and 4 would see him more as an apprentice. DMC2 Dante would see him as a second chance, a way to avoid the mistakes of his past.
 
i wouldnt be too surprised if there was a game that mashed the two universes together, in fact it would probably make a heck of a game.
