DmC's PlayTesters

Not that I'm confident would find out who these guys are (though it'd be nice if someone would) but, from what we know of DmC's mechanics, glitches, and whatever other issues it had/has, what quality of players do you think they hired?

So far, it doesn't seem they hired professional- level playtesters, though I assume the players were either Advanced DMC gamers or just very creative.

Well I know the original actor for Dante played the game and said it was great...."Everything Devil May Cry was and more"

Is that goof enough?

Not people who played the demo. I'm talking about people who tested the game before it was released as a demo to the public.

Well I'd assume they got people who are DMC gamers to play it, I mean, imagine giving it to someone who'd never played it before and saying: "What the f*** is this?"

I don't think they hired really high level players like some we see on Youtube that are just inhumanly amazing at DMC3 and 4. But I bet they hired really good ones either way. It isn't too hard for a player with a good fighting game-type of background to get good at DMC really fast. In fact, I was able to pull off things like infinite jump canceling and Royal Blocks after a month or two of playing DMC4. When I played 3 back when it came out, I didn't know what jump canceling was... but I went back to it once I got the HD collection and the jump canceling is actually a lot easier to do than 4... for me at least. I beat Bloody Palace and DMD mode and wasn't even as hard as I remembered it.

All that aside, Capcom is very well known for things like fighting games that require really good play testers. Do you really think Capcom doesn't have a group of people that are just friggin' amazing at these games that they hire for play testing? And they could easily recommend these to NT for them to hire. A lot of stuff under the hood, as they say.

But wouldn't they hire someone who had an eye for detail? Someone who can experiment and find glitches where they might pop up? Because if you don't hire the right kind of playtesters, you could end up releasing the game with glitches that, if they aren't caught during the demo's release, could ruin the value of the game.

For example, take the glitchs that Berto caught during his playthrough and the ones in the recent boss battle thread. If those weren't caught during the demo, would NT really have noticed when they didn't notice prior to the demo's release?

I guess they were too focused on actual combat gameplay that they didn't pay too much attention into how the actual overall game would end up... lol. I mean, I'm sure they did look for some people that are good at catching glitches... but as we have seen, it hasn't really been enough.

Well it's a good thing these glitches were caught now, so that NT can pay more attention to the over all game. They don't have to focus on the speed of gameplay, just focus a bit more on over all transversing.

I hope they pay attention real close to this detail from this point forward. Though most people haven't noticed them yet, there are alot of problems going on with camera and aiming, framework issues, and traversal.

Even though they have about 5 months to fix all this, most game producers usually take this time to tighten some of the stuff in the game, like controls and various effects.

The sad part about this is that people will blame NT for not making the controls tight enough and making the game without fixing these bugs, if they don't fix them in time, despite Capcom having their fair share in production.

I think the controls have been the main focus of the developments since combat is the selling point of any dmc game so i bet they're focused on fixing glitches and all that good stuff with a tweak here and there of the combat like how much damage u take and dish out, fixing the style meter so u cant spam stuff to get high rankings on bosses.

I knew that combat was definitely a focus, but I thought that NT would've learned from the criticisms of Enslaved that they need to stay on top of the game's finer details.

that would be the smart thing to do, but as I've said before capcom the past 5 or so years has been pants on head retarded, case and point megaman legends 3 and then showing old boxart megaman in streetfighterXTekken right after they cancled ML3, also the fact that they basically ransomed off the true ending of asura's wrath, which in a game that is 100% story driven is

They have awhile to focus on such details now that combat looks like it will only new a few tweaks here and there. The demo that has shown glitches is from last year all they added was devil trigger and a HUD, they probably didnt tweak the demo stages much before making the demo public.
