DmC's Control Scheme

So no-one liked the new control scheme?

I liked it over DMC4's scheme with trickster dodge as default instead of side roll (prone to screw-ups due to wonky camera angles), a separate launcher button which meant arial rave was doable with changing style as were several other moves like prop and shredder, [] + X gun moves available without gunslinger and weapon switch instead of the rotating one. I don't really mind parry replacing Royal Guard, maybe they could add a just release move. I only miss the revving mechanic from Nero but Demon Dodge sort of replaces it doesn't it(?)

I didn't miss the lock-on much since it more often than not locked on to the wrong target, though in DmC you sometimes target the floor enemies instead of bathos or harpies, but generally it aims at the right target.

-->,--> + ▲ moves are a bit iffy in DmC but doable.

The only main gripe was that the movelist was a tad small.

I don't really mind it. Just as you said I have the same problem with pulling myself to ground target instead of air ones even when I'm in the air close to the targets and having my camera face them. Though yeah it does usually do an okay job picking out the right ones. You can always use the joystick click button to switch targets too. To make sure you have the right one just shoot once after you switch.

I also don't like the double joystick then attack to do stinger or other dash attacks. I have the PC version so on the keyboard you do W,W, then click and what was super easy and that was actually something I was used to after playing (C9) Continent of the Ninth. I ended up using a 360 controller for DmC like I did with DMC4 for PC since it's just easier in my opinion and it's what I'm used to in dmc games.

Besides all that you can still change all of your bindings so you can charge your guns and what not while attacking and moving without too much difficulty.

That was the other gripe (sort of since I fixed it) the angel and demon weapons on opposite sides of the controller but I fixed that mapping the weapons on L1 and L2 and both dodges on R1 and R2. Leaves 1 button (2 including select/back) free if there is a sequel (which I really doubt happening). ▲ + O is another available button press.

I actually enjoy the newer control scheme. I do agree about the grips clinging to the wrong enemy and the lack of lock on as you have to be accurate with any Stinger like moves.

I remapped the controls immediately when I started this game. With a little trial-and-error, I found a scheme that works great for me:

L2 and R2 switched (no idea why but this feels more comfortable)
Dpad left right switched too
L1 = Shoot
R1 = Gun Special (way better than □+x imo)
□ = Dodge
Dpad down = Devil Trigger (Left/Right analog clicking is awkward)

As you can see I changed up quite a bit... but having the gun moves as shoulder buttons makes it easier for me to charge and multitask.
