so i was watching the 2012 trailer to see if i missed somthing and i noticed this:
to be exact at 0:47 when the world start to change it looks like a hand is coming out of the ground so could u guys help me out...what do u think?whos hand is that?

It does not seem like hands because i saw many fingers appear. It's highly plausible it's Limbo world trying to stop Dante in any way.
 
i see what you mean, it does sort of look like hands. it's like the environment is taking the shape of demonic hands at least, maybe they will attack you if you get too close to them.

We know Limbo exists and is after Dante. It's a living world trying to kill him. Like a bloodcell.
We know that.

So whos hands is that? The living world.

Hmmm...it could be a hand. Why would random shiz erupt from the ground for no reason? And why were there only two? And there is the fact it looks like a hand. I'd say that it is a hand in a symbolic sense like Limbo is trying to push you or grab you.

Anyways, I believe those hands came from the chick Dante had slept with earlier and are trying to choke his @$$ for not calling her.

Aww, come on. I'm no comedian, but that doesn't mean I can't try to make a funny once in a while.

jk, I know that was terrible. It was just sort of the first thing that came to my head so I posted it.

Back to the matter at hand though.... (wow, I need to stop) The hands coming out of the ground shows that Limbo can actually spawn weird things from time to time to change the landscape. Using this, they can do some pretty cool artistic backgrounds when in Limbo. I, for one, am quite excited to see how they play with this.
 
I think that's just there for effect. If it was a final boss, it wouldn't feel right bringing a piece of it out so early in the game.

Actually, Limbo isn't trying to kill him there because he isn't in the city, he's at the beach in another place.
