DmC with PS2 Controller Problem

Hi guys, I've started playing DmC and I'm having fun on the keyboard, but I'd like to use my PS2 controller with it. It worked with DMC3 and 4, so I was a bit puzzled as to why it didn't work here. I can plug it in, and press keys with it that perform actions, but the bindings are really weird,
Eg, Triangle = Jump
L1 = Start

Now whenever I go into options and gamepad keybinds, and rebind every key to my preference, I then press back and the keys automatically rebind themselves to the default. How can I sort this problem?
