DmC spin off

So basically I’ve been thinking about all the styles of games I play and it’s pretty varied. From Hack n slash to RTS, RPG, FPS, Horror and more etc. If Capcom were to make a spin off within the DmC universe and make it other than a Hack N’ slash game, what would you want it be? Horror? RPG? Would you have all new characters or the same? People could give ideas for the classic verse as well. I am not talking about another reboot here at all. I’m also not talking about Capcom dropping DmC or DMC as a Hack N’ Slash game. This is just a thread for fresh ideas and just for fun really. Ideally I would like everyone to get a long here as well.

I’ve been toying with the thought of a DmC spin off in a Contemporary, Dark, gritty RPG setting. Something in the vein of the Witcher 2 writing style, with the original DmC concept art that DragonMaster2010 posted in his thread. I also just want some excuse to explore the DmC world a little deeper. I love Hack N' Slash games but I'm such a sucker for a good and long detailed story.

I’ve also been playing with the thought of Sparda’s rebellion in an RTS game for a DMC spin off or his rise to power with Mundus in DmC; It could be a full all out war with heaven and the angels etc.

Any thoughts?

This is my first thread so….stupid idea? Would anyone want something like this?

A game with DMC/DmC's deep combat with some rpg elements, kinda like the gameplay system of Castlevania Curse of Darkness but done better and some optional events that play out like the Disgaea series.

I really like the idea~

Hmm I think would be fun to have some sort of Horror RPG spin off. I mean you got demons and you got a world in complete chaos. It's a perfect setting. Hey, the first idea that popped into my head is that it's been years since the fall of Mundus and the world is JUST starting to get back on it's feet again. Maybe theres another evil demon waiting to take over and it starts eating human souls and causing mysterious murders. Humans have forgotten the past the warnings of the nephilim and their sidekick psychic. So they're going "WHERE ARE ALL THESE GRUESOME MURDERS COMING FROM" So then the main character could be like a detective.

The demon is using Paradise as a hideout and the detective is following the clues and after years of being abandoned Paradise is used by druggies and stupid teens for their own fun with graffiti and stuff all over the walls. So the detective somehow has the solve the mystery while saving some kids in the process. *shrugs* me don't know.

I kinda got the inspiration from the Fatal Frame horror series.. it's an awesome horror game series. PLUS my favourite game out of the series is Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly. Where a village as a dark ritual of forcing the oldest twin to sacrifice their youngest on to the demon god in hopes that their village is safe for another however many years. Hey maybe they can rip something off of that. <3 Japanese Horror Games.

That sounds really interesting. I think the DmC world could really shine in a horror like setting; all the necessary element are already there. Would you have Dante and the OG characters make an appearance? or just have an all new crew? I'm not sure what I would rather actually. Part of me would really like to see the same characters in a game like this and another part of me would really like to see new characters in the universe. Maybe a game like this with Nero or something.

I've never played that game, looks I'll have to check that out. I feel that the Japanese are often the best with horror games and movies etc. In my opinion of coarse. I absolutely used to **** myself eith silent hill series.

I'm going to be going to bed soon. I don't know why I made this thread so late; it just popped up in my head out of nowhere and I really want to get a taste for the entire DmC/DMC world. Heaven, hell, angels, demons, the world religions etc. Maybe a stand alone game with just Kat.

Hmmmmm well if it's been years it would be pretty cool to see glimpses of what Dante and Kat have been up too. Maybe Dante is a really well known demon hunter now but people scoff at him because they've forgotten the past. So the detective takes a risk with his own reputation to seek some sort of help from Dante and Kat? OR the spin off is set sooooo far into the future that Dante, Kat, Vergil and anyone else are already dead but could possible have statue memorials in some park to thank them for their help when the world needed them. So Dante and crew would just be an easter egg.

Ah I actually think I like the Easter egg idea even better. There would be more room to explore with new characters and it could feel like the same universe while at the same time leaving behind all the expectations people would have for a DMC/DmC game. I'm going to bow out for the night, I'm pretty tired. Thank you for your response. The DmC world can live a pretty long life if Capcom is not afraid to truly experiment.

Some recent games are mash-ups of genres these days, like the new Tomb Raider, so maybe DmC wouldn't have to be just one. I feel like a survival horror game with both hack-and-slash and complex RPG elements would be cool. I remember looking at some parts of Limbo in DmC and wishing it wasn't so linear, that we had hours to stick around and explore. Like the funhouse in the carnival level was really surreal and creepy and deserved to be a lot longer and more interactive than it was.

Maybe a whole game dedicated to someone (not necessarily Dante) uncovering the mystery of Sparda (and to a lesser extent, Eva), picking apart bits and pieces of the real story, seeing how over time he came to sympathize with humans (and make contact with angels, depending) and by the end there's both more answers and more questions. Especially if Sparda's story was integrated with different parts of real history, like the fall of Rome, or the Black Plague, or the Holocaust, as if wherever there was a great human travesty, demons lurked, feeding on our pain. And every time the player character unlocks something new, s/he encounters more demons, more darkness, becomes more corrupt, more conflicted...borrowing a lot of elements from Vergil's Downfall, which I thought was brilliantly cerebral.

I dunno, I'd be interested in that, anyway. But then I'm playing Dragon Age: Origins right now, so dark fantasy RPG-style things where I get to kill stuff with swords are really appealing right now, lol.

That sounds like a really good show or movie i'd love to watch! It would be pretty nice if Sparda wasn't celebrated as some legendary hero in this case. Maybe give him a pretty dark history himself and only recently did he have a change of heart. Maybe there's curses and evils in artifacts people find that belong to angels and demons....

(A premise: I'm new in the world of gaming, so, well, spare me some clemency if I say something terrible... I'm trying to learn, I swear! :P)

The horror RPG would fit just perfecty the world that has been created in DmC. And it would enable players to better explore Limbo, which I think is a SSSensational environment! And yes, I agree with the Easter Egg idea here... It would be really interesting to see how humans coped with what happened to them...

I'd also love a spin off about Sparda's story, like the one suggested by darkmanifest. Or maybe, I'd even go with Sparda himself being the protagonist of a game that combines elements from strategy games and RPGs. After all, Sparda was Mundus' leutenant, so it would make sense if his story has parts that are lived in first person, while some others are moments of important battles in which Sparda was general of an army of demons fighting against angels. And, asthe story unfolds, we are shown how Sparda meets Eva (and sides with humans? Did he really side with humans? We are not explicitly told that in DmC, just that he fell in love with an angel...).

And something for Kat. Mmmmhhh, maybe something about her having to make her way through Limbo in a first person puzzle-platform game... Ok, I'll admit, I'm playing Portal 2 and I'm liking it a bit too much, so I'm being influenced...
A game like this would be really different from the originals, so I'm dubious as to if it would be well received, or if it would make any sense at all. But maybe, if the environment is really evocative (and Limbo is, IMO), the music striking, the gameplay good, with Kat having to use her psychic powers to solve riddles and journey through variegated levels... dunno, maybe, just maybe...

While playing DmC I noticed a few things that reminded me of Silent Hill, which made me think a DmC spin-off would be pretty good as a survival horror. Maybe have Vergil as the main character and his angel side is trying to get out of the hell his demon half put him in. I'd want the ending to be more uncertain so people are left questioning whether or not Vergil's angel side was able to take control and try to redeem him. That could be left for the main series.

Yesssss! we're turning another one over to the dark side. Our ranks are growing stronger by the day Muahahaha!!!

I'm addicted to Portal 2 myself! I'm of the mindset that almost any style game can work well if it has an amazing team working on it. Limbo would make a great puzzle atmosphere. Limbo in DmC was breathtaking and I definitely wanted to explore it more. Which leads me to the question, will limbo even be in a DmC 2 sequel? Since it merged with the real world by the end of the game, does that mean it's gone for good? That would suck donkey balls if that's the case.

Hmm, this might sound odd, but... First-Person-Shooter. Well, not nessesarily shooter, but just First-Person-SomethingSomething. Why? Well, idk, but, when DMC1 turned firstperson for that underwater passage, I just thought "How awsome would it be to explore the beautiful world of Devil May Cry all in firstperson view?!".

Other than that... some kinda Horror game would probably work fantastically with DmC's setting and NT's monster design <3

Well, I thorougly hope that, since Limbo has collapsed into the real world, now the real world would be a lot like Limbo... maybe not like Mission 17,

but something like Mission 4...

I have to admit, the thing I love most about Limbo is its colours...

Which ever thing they do. They must have NT's design for environment. It's just stunning. Actually I like the Sparda as the main character idea! Maybe it can give us more insight on little Vergil and Dante near the end? Like Sparda is still trying to play the role as Lieutenant to Mundus but also hiding the fact that "oops I got an angel pregnant, my bad".

Ohhh This sounds good, sort of like an an FPS similar to Bioshock? I just started playing Bioshock for the first time and I love it so far and I don't know about anyone else but it seriously has been creeping me out.
