I thought it would be handy to create one thread for news instead of having to make a new one every time there is a scrap of news about the game.

To start off I have an interview with Christian Svensson (what a BA last name), the VP of Strategic Planning. They talk about everything Capcom, including the new DmC game.

IGN: Capcom announced a new Devil May Cry title at TGS. It's being developed by Ninja Theory, who worked Heavenly Sword and Enslaved. Can you talk about the decision behind that? Is this going to be their breakout game?

Svensson: Inafune himself has been intimately involved for more than a year literally on every design decision, including character and direction, that's ever been done on the project. Devil May Cry has been in pre-production for well over a year, probably 18 months now if I recall. It's a very collaborate effort.

I'd actually say Heavenly Sword was their breakout game. It sold really well. Part of the reason we picked them is they have demonstrated the ability and raw capabilities of creating a credible action game and I think Enslaved does them another favor; it's a new IP, which is a massive challenge. It's getting good reviews and has excellent storytelling. And I think excellent storytelling is something the Devil May Cry series could actually use more of. So that's one of the reason's why they were picked.

When you look across at all of potential partners that we could pick from external developers to work on something, they made a very short list of people who've shipped anything that is a credible action game. I think with input from [chief director] Hideaki Itsuno, in particular on the fight mechanics, they're going to do to the Devil May Cry series what Blue Castle did to the Dead Rising series.

There were all of the same cries and screams when we announced a western developer was doing Dead Rising 2. I think the uphill challenge that Ninja Theory faces is they are using Dante, which has a whole lot of baggage associated with it where Blue Castle put Frank West on the shelf and invented no locations and characters. Coming out at the other end, the Devil May Cry franchise will be better for it. I understand what the initial reaction from fans was; we get it. I think, though, we've earned the right to ask for you to wait until you see more.

They also talk about Dante the character on the next page. They also discuss Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Onimusha, and more. Full article: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/113/1130093p1.html

Actually...I kinda like making a new thread for all the news lol. It easily separates old news from new news. With this, people will have to scroll and go through pages to respond to news...just my two cents though.

Assuming this thread gets popular I was going to add a list to the first post with links. :/

bye bye dante

I don't mean to sound rude here, but yes, we can tell that you miss Dante (and sympathize with you), but this is a news thread, so please don't post short messages about 'Dante being gone forever' and such. (And on other threads)
To reassure you, Capcom has said before that they may go back to the original story.

I apologize again if I sounded mean =____="

it might never happen...capcom will never go back to original story if fans start liking the new rebooted dmc better.

and so far....there are alot of folks out there willing to go for the rebooted one. those folks even said they were 'getting tired' of the old looks.

so what's the point of capcom going back to the original....if only to please some old fans and make new fans criticize it.

It'll only attract new fans and gamers that are under the rock. Some old fans might like this and probably game collectors will just buy the game for review and collection purposes. Hardcore fans though will probably turned off and gamers that know the insides and outsides of what is happening to Capcom and the new dev team NT.
