DmC - Matrix Similarities

Yeah, homage to does not mean that it will continue to derive from that or a similar source all the time. They live was one of the favorite movies of the NT staff, so they threw in their love letter to the film with the way Limbo works.

Yeah, there was inspiration from "They Live," Tameem said it was his favorite movie, but Devil May Cry drew inspiration from the Divine Comedy...who cares, right? In the end what matters most is the product itself.

I don't think there's anything wrong with drawing inspiration from something, and the only thing I see in common here is the concept. There's no fighting to make someone put on glasses, no busting into a bank to shoot up hidden aliens/demons, though there IS the whole world reveal at the end.

Honestly before I knew it was They Live inspired, I was drawing bible-inspired parallels (invisible demons rule the world.)

It's "They Live if demons did it" which I can dig. And I personally don't believe there are any ideas or concepts drawn from a vacuum.

After seeing how Devil May Cry became, I thought of it like the Matrix. Limbo is the Matrix and the human world is the real world.

Dante is Neo while Kat is Trinity.

Given the amount of stories that have written throughout history, the plot lines and themes have become so convoluted, that it has become nearly impossible to not find fragments and chunks of other stories within or mirroring another storyline.

Which is why Hollywood has not produced anything truly original and groundbreaking in quite some time, and why tv has become nothing but reality tv.

I can imagine DmC Dante and DmC Vergil kicking serious demon ass with this song from The Matrix OST:
Here's the long version not off the OST:

Anyway, on topic:

For my two cents on this, let me say one thing...

I KINDA NOTICED THAT!

No wonder it reminded me of The Matrix! :D

there was going to be a bank scene but that got taken out because the boss fight didn't fit in with the rest
