well i am looking at it as its own thing. im just saying NT literally said that this game draws from "they live"
Yeah, there was inspiration from "They Live," Tameem said it was his favorite movie, but Devil May Cry drew inspiration from the Divine Comedy...who cares, right? In the end what matters most is the product itself.
After seeing how Devil May Cry became, I thought of it like the Matrix. Limbo is the Matrix and the human world is the real world.
Dante is Neo while Kat is Trinity.
there is a big difference between based on, and plagiarize, and this is dangerously close to the latterbesides the fact that they based this game on "They Live" yeah
there was going to be a bank scene but that got taken out because the boss fight didn't fit in with the restI don't think there's anything wrong with drawing inspiration from something, and the only thing I see in common here is the concept. There's no fighting to make someone put on glasses, no busting into a bank to shoot up hidden aliens/demons, though there IS the whole world reveal at the end.
Honestly before I knew it was They Live inspired, I was drawing bible-inspired parallels (invisible demons rule the world.)
It's "They Live if demons did it" which I can dig. And I personally don't believe there are any ideas or concepts drawn from a vacuum.
