DmC, from what I've seen and played, is a worthy entry.

Fake Geek Girl.
So, I've been a DMC fan since I popped the demo in when it showed up with my Code Veronica many years ago. It pretty much set my standards for action games and blew my mind. I've stuck by Dante even through the bad (2 and 4) but this franchise still holds a special little spot in my heart. After seeing everything Ninja Theory is doing with the franchise, I have faith that this is a game that should please fans new and old and by all means sees in no way it should get the backlash it endures. It's ridiculous and here's why I think DMC is in good hands.

The combat:
When I started the demo I found it pretty easy to get into and that's what drew me in to DMC 1 as it stands as my personal favorite. It wasn't hard to learn but it took your dedication to really master. While the styles are not present we now have what I see as a really cool hybrid of that. The ability to switch between any weapon at any time leaves alot of room for experimentation and variety that ultimately alot of players will mix it up and play how they see fit. It's something I've always wanted for the franchise because while 3 had great gameplay, I was wishing on multiple occasions to do certain moves in swordmaster and gunslinger together. The auto-lock on works fine and I'm still ripping through demons fine and dandy. I see the combat makes alot of nods to the previous games as well and it's the right ones. We now have a Dante who is good at all the things all the time and has access to all the toys anytime. Also simply put, it was fun and that's what truly matters.

The characters:
While it's obvious this Dante looks different it never really bothered me because I didn't love DMC for white hair and a red coat. And it's not like he looks bad because I'm digging his new coat. His personality is still there. I expect Dante to be the cocky demonslayer with a sense of justice. It's here. If anything he's not as cheesy and corny as he was in previous games because let's face it guys, Dante said things that were quite frankly very lame and bad. I admit to laughing at Dante in DMC 1 for yelling how he wanted to fill Trish's heart with light. Still, it was ok and I realized story and dialogue wasn't it's strongest attribute. I like what Vergil's doing as well this go round because I get to see these brothers stand together to F a demon's day up and there wasn't too much to the guy to begin with. I hope I wasn't the only one wondering why Vergil has a vendetta against the human race when you look at his reasons for wanting to embrace his devil side more. I don't think his parents would be too proud. I mean, he failed to save his HUMAN mother so.... Still again, the story wasn't the strongest and I let it fly. I'm interested in Vergil's reason for becoming evil and I hope it's a better one. I can see the development in these characters and I don't have a problem with a little bit of change.

The story:
The world of Limbo was very cool with all its possessed architecture and I really saw how this city was alive living and breathing evil. The colors really made it pop and was a nice change of pace from the typical castle it usually took place in. The story of a passive aggressive fist secretly controling the world has been done before but I think it also works for Devil May Cry and if it gives me a reason to have a world full of demons to slaughter, bring it on. I guess all I can say is it works and compared to previous games where things could get rather silly, I can buy it. I'm also an avid anime fan but in DMC I guess I can do without the anime trends that usually did that to the franchise.

My complaints:
Since I never tried the full packgage (none of us have) I can't give full judgement to it but I do have some gripes but they are mainly personal preference. One, is Devil Trigger. I really liked how Dante turned into a monster in the original and thought that was really cool so maybe it could have stayed you know but this one isn't bad because it reminds me of Super Saiyans. I like Super Saiyans. Also my other complaint would be the dubstep tracks but that's because I don't care much for dubstep. But I did also hear some really sweet heavy metal tracks that feel perfect for DMC and that hard guitar got me pumped. The instrumentals on those tracks were pretty sweet so it's not all bad. I can always play my ipod to my own soundtrack I guess lol.

Overall:
Comic books do reboots and different takes all the time and change helps any series from going the road of stagnation. I think for DMC which is an aging franchise, a fresh take can be appreciated. I won't cast out a new idea just because it differs from the original and I'm interested in what Ninja Theory can give this franchise as a brand because DMC is now open to even more possibilities down the pipeline and it has hope to survive in an everchanging gaming industry. As long as the reboot still has what made me a fan, I'm totally cool with it branching out for a wider audience because now more people will discover and share our love for DMC. I still see the nods and tributes the new one makes to our beloved older titles all while giving DMC a nice breath of fresh air. I see by no means this particular adventure of Dante spells out a bad one. The haters in my opinion have been just very narrow minded and biased. Overall just plain silly. Just go around the internet and I think the haters are really reaching with complaints about DmC and does part of it still stem from trivial things like a haircut? Sad to say but yes. It's a bunch of people who just seem very immature and can't get over a bit of change ultimately dismissing everything this game has to offer without hesitation. We will always have our fond memories with our older games and they will always be there for us to go back to (if you kept them but hey HD collection is there too) but just knowing DMC has another go has me happy a very sentimental series of mine is making a return. I look at this game as more of a sucessor to the name and overall a worthy title to add to the DMC library. I don't get excited about many games anymore because the gaming industry at the moment is well bleh not too great but DmC is one of the few (along with Injustice, Ni No Kuri, Metal Gear SolidGround Zeroes, MGS5 Phantom Pain? and GTA 5) I'm actually looking forward to. I gave Ninja Theory the fighting chance to crush my doubts on a DMC reboot and came out pleasantly surprised and now eager to wield Rebellion, Ebony, and Ivory once more.

Please don't line up outside my house with pitchforks and torches DMC fanbase because I have faith in DmC. I'd rather not die before I get to play these games please. I just hope you at least see where I'm coming from.

Dont worry about torches and pitchforks
This forum is actually a shelter for those who are actually supporting DmC. This place is a haven for those who like to discuss all things positive about the game.

Welcome to the DmC forums :D

Cool story, mate. Welcome to the forums. But we just got finished with the buggers making anti-DmC threads, I'd rather not have the board fill up with pro-DmC threads either. Two sides of the same coin, I guess.

By all means I wasn't trying to start a debate, I was just voicing my thoughts on DmC because I've notice the anti-DmC crowd has been pretty vicious and I didn't want the grief. This post is probably the first time I went in depth with why I like DmC. I see things like the facebook page and these haters are really making a majority of this fanbase seem like narrow minded and obnoxious babies. Acting like any change or new ideas are strictly taboo or something to a point where it's like they're nuts. I even heard of the death threats made against Ninja Theory and that was just despicable. Just wondering if anyone else sees where I'm coming from about DmC you know.

Oh man, I guess I missed some fun before arriving, then, didn't I?

Solid little breakdown of your impressions you've got there. I didn't understand what people were so upset about either.

The (evil side of the) city of Limbo, from what I've seen of it, really remind me of a severely underrated original Xbox game called Phantom Dust.

I remember Phantom Dust. It was a pretty obscure game and it was actually pretty cheap. I think and it started off with a price of only $20. I just remember picking it up randomly a very long time ago and it was a lucky find.

This game definitely get my seal of approval. Im getting it launch date and its going in my special shelf where i keep my best games
