Yo guys! The game's less than a month away, so I say it would be a good time to open the floodgates of that combo mad goodness the Devil May Cry franchise is known and loved for. Here, you can talk about and post anything combat- related: Combo vids, any news on any tournaments, any new techniques, ideas on combos, or any unique qualities on your personal style.

Here are some combo vids already posted:

A, B what ...

In DmC, there are two types of combos: Combo A (unpaused combo) and Combo B (paused combo). For example, Rebellion's Combo A is Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle. Its Combo B is Triangle, Triange, (pause) Triangle, Triangle, Triangle.

I know, but the above guy's post confused me as it makes it look like there's 3 times the moves that there really are

That "above guy" would be me lol. That's a list of all possible combos you can do using the different moves in the demo (naturally, by "combo" I mean variations of Combo As and Bs).

All the attacks have names, like Hacker and Death Coil etc, even then though, your list is incredibly difficult to understand. What do the numbers even mean?

My list covers more than those attacks (plus it would be confusing if I used official names). And its not that hard to understand. There are two types of combos: A and B. I'm just listing variations of those two combos.

What do the numbers even mean?

The total number of that variation. For example, Arbiter has only two E&I As, meaning that there only two E&I variations for Combo A: Triangle, Square and Triangle, Triangle, Square.

I have to say I don't think it would be confusing to use the names, since everyone knows the names of the moves. Do you mean to tell me that Rebellion's A combo is Hacker, and the B combo is Death Coil? And what other variations are their of Stinger? Do you mean Stinger and then also Trillion Stabs? Because that's two completely different moves. And what are the variations of E&I with A and B? It only has one Shoot function, and then Ricoshot, Inverse Rainstorm, and then Rainstorm. You're bringing in a bunch of new terminology without explanation, when there's perfectly good terminology within the game itself.

This might be easier for you in writing your list, but it makes it wholly confusing for others to understand and benefit from, and you didn't clarify anything before using the jargon in your list. I'm not saying it's a bad list (mostly because I can't understand it, so I don't know), just that it's poorly written as an informative piece.

Yeah the basics thread. I mean any terminology that comes up like DT or notation A combo/B combo.

A sure. Although "Combo A/B" is sort of redundant now that they both have their own names (Hacker and Death Coil), which is handy.

@TxA, the first time I agree with ya buddy.
@Rail, sorry, I didn't notice both posts were by you "_" and don't get me wrong, just like my buddy, I don't get it at all, so I can't prove or disprove the combo list lol

Don't worry about it. If you don't get it, you don't get it. I made the list before the name of the combos were released and nobody was confused about it back then (or at least didn't say that they were). I'm sorry to say that I can't use the actual names because not everybody is familiar with them yet and it would be odd to use terms like "E&I Hacker" or "Angel Lift Death Coil" since those would sound like moves of their own. Even moreso, I made this for fans of the Classic franchise, so using A/B notation is more convenient since they already know (or just simply have sense of) what that means.

As of now, though, I am in the process of updating the lists anyway. So, while I'm at it, I'll try to use the actual names for your convenience.

Well, add in transition points, like "Angel Lift>Death Coil" or "Hightime>Helm Breaker>Jump Cancel>Hanger."

Numbers would be really helpful for combos with different inputs, like "Death Coil 4>Hightime>Aerial Rave 3>Helm Breaker," where the numbers inform of how many steps through the skill the player should go before inputting the next attack in the combo.

Making it for the old fans is fine, but the final game is upon us, and that old terminology won't stick very well.

I'll figure something out. Expect a new list on Monday. I'll be busy at work this weekend.
