Did Dante just semi-apologize to someone?

During the cutscene after the first mission when Kat approaches Dante in her car trying to persuade him to get by saying she helped he responds with "I didn't ask for your help." Which was kind of a rude thing to say.

But then, after we see Mundus almost give Lilith the good O'l creampie, we see Kat driving Dante back to the Order and after trying to learn more about her he says "Listen, I never asked for your help but you gave it and I appreciate it."
I think I like this scene a lot because Dante is showing a little humility here and is kind of acknowledging that he's not always right in how he acts/talks. Something that apparently the story writers for the old DMCs couldn't be bothered to do for classic Dante.

But enough about what I think, I want to hear what you thought of Dante's semi-apology(assuming you even consider it that.).

It's his way of making up to her. It's not an outright 'I'm sorry I was a dick' but I think it's as close to apology as you'll ever get from Dante.

but like loopy said, its as close as i think any of the dante's would get to saying sorry

That doesn't sound like an apology, sounds like a thank you + greasing up to get the story.

Rule #5 of DMC/DmC

Dante must never apologize. He can only sort of apologize in a roundabout way.

Do not deny the truth. Embrace it.
But we don't know if he did or he didn't considering he stopped and then began freaking out over his dead succubus....I can't believe I'm thinking about this:vomit:

To me it sounded like "I showed you mine now you show me yours."
You mean he did it to earn her trust so that she would open up about her childhood abuse and then he'd trust her a bit more for sharing her past. Would make sense considering Dante says he has trust issues.

I don't think it's just that. Dante's grew up alone with probably very few people he could trust. Vergil and Kat might be the first people that he really could in a long time, at least those who knew about the demons and Limbo. Plus he probably felt like a dick for he way he'd acted to her previously, along with his 'what's your story' line that sounded very dickish of him, and wanted to let her know that she could open up to him [I got the sense he's never had an honest friendship with a girl before, other than snow blowers heheh.]

Although I still think Dante should've done a Flynn :p
