First of all, NO SPOILERS PLEASE. This is just if you know anything about this. So, a long time ago when DmC first showed up with it's reveal trailer it had Dante chained up in some mental institution getting interrogated and maybe a bit of shock therapy. I remember being interested in what exactly was going on here and I know DmC's evolved quite a bit since then but is that particular plot point just abandoned? If you somehow know the entire DmC plot please don't spoil it. I'm just asking if anyone knows if that scene will simply get some pay off or not. Or was it really just a random idea that will never be seen again?

That whole business got abandoned. That reveal trailer was just intended to shock everyone. It represented just the concept.

Actually, considering there is reference to Dante having been put through demon run orphanges, youth correction centers, and the like, it's probably that the tortures he endured in the teaser are in fact part of the backstory on what's been happening to Dante since Eva was murdered

It wasn't abandoned, it just hasn't been touched upon much since then, although there are references here and there in game, and in interviews talking about Dante's past they mention his abusive childhood.

I always said that first announcement trailer was a juxtaposition of how he was treated by the demons in the past, and then how he treats the demons in the present

I originally thought that a bunch of scientists/experimental/Weskers captured the essence of Sparda and placed it into an orphan, repeatedly tortured him until he gave the answer that "he was Dante" when really it's the spirit of Dante. Stupid now but...this was 2/3 years ago.

One of my friends had the theory that this was just a kid who thought he was Dante, and it was all a Kojima-inspired ruse for when the game released and he ended up meeting the real Dante. That woulda been pretty cool too, but the actual affair is fine too :3

DmC Dante isn't Dante and will meet Dante theories have been around since the game was announced.

I'm hoping the whole torture bit is still in it but considering we start at the pier I doubt we will be able to play out the escape if it is in the game at all.
