(From Ending The Rivalry *Destruction In The Midnight Sky*)

Vergil was curious as to why the pesky creatures had been following his flight. But as curious as he was, he was even more eager. Eager to kill them all.

Vergil was ready to make a move, until his amulet struck out again.

"What's wrong with this thing?" he thought to himself.

As if the amulet was controlling him, Vergil's head moved, and his eyes were drawn to the horror in the distance.

There was a huge, unavoidable creature that had rose from the ocean below.

Vergil wasn't one to show fear, but in times like these one usually does have the anxiety to go "Holy crap".

The plane was heading straight towards the beast, and there was nothing it could do to avoid being crushed.

Once more, the amulet shone a bright blue, and Vergil could feel himself speeding up. It had seemed that the amulet was trying to protect him, or at least show him warnings. As if the amulet was some kind of guardian.

He then felt himself rushing towards the huge beast, at great speed. But the other minions seemed to have other plans, and struck out right before Vergil had reached the creature.

Vergil fought them off easily. Slicing one in half, and cutting straight through another's head. Demonic blood being spilt in the midnight sky. Evil fighting above the clouds, where the Heavens ought to be.

Vergil was hit by a lightning blast that the huge creature had sent out. Being knocked back slightly, he saw the plane trying to veer away from the large demon.

But there was no luck. Vergil was about to witness the terror. The huge demonic hand rose to strike out the deadly blow. The amulet shone once more, and the world was brought to a halt.

But it hadn't all stopped. Everything was still moving, but at an incredibly slow rate. The amulet had stopped everything, giving Vergil time to save the people.

Vergil wasn't one to usually use something such as Quicksilver. But then again, he hadn't. It was the amulet that had done this. The amulet had slowed everything down.

With the greatest of ease, Vergil smashed away at the demon's giant hand. And after much hacking, he sliced the hand away. The demon's face could be seen making a scream of pain, but in slow motion.

This slow scream of pain pleased Vergil greatly. But then the scream started to speed up, and the demon burst into a fit of rage. It smashed Vergil back with its other hand, and sent him flying through the sky.

Vergil didn't care about anything now. At least the people in the plane had been saved from that thing. Vergil was ready to return, and finish the demons off. But something held him back. He could feel himself drained of power, and then all of a sudden, he lost his wings. He was falling, into the raging ocean below. Down into the depths of an underwater nightmare.

(From mine and Trish67’s joint Game Concept *DMC5: Ancient Runes*)

The demonic army advanced swiftly on the battlefield. The demonic warriors all geared up; marching through the place and destroying all human objects in their path. It was clear that when their eyes had set onto Nero and the gang, that they were going to start to make an attack. Swords were raised, and blood was about to be shed.

Without time for witty one liners, Narcisse and Nero were drawn into the midst of brutal battle. Swords clashed, and demons cried with pain as Nero smashed them apart with Red Queen, leaving blood along the pavement. Narcisse was hacking away at some smaller types of demons, whilst Nero dealt heavy blows of damage to the larger ones.

Sending three demons up into the air all at once with his Devil Bringer, Nero was making it look easy. That was, until the larger demons arrived. Their jaws dripping with blood from their last kill. The skin of humans stuck to their fur, as they had just ravished a group of poor and innocent men.

Growling and cackling, they charged forward and jumped into the air. The wolf type demonic creatures laid down several heavy blows from their huge teeth, but Nero smacked them off from him. As the battle continued, Narcisse spotted something that would help fend off most of the demons. A nearby gas station. She fired one fire bolt towards the station, and watched as it blew apart. The rubble managed to block most of the street off; giving them more time to deal with the current enemies.

“Perhaps I should show you how things are really done” Vergil said, as he finally stepped in to help out. Unsheathing Yamato quickly, it slammed through the stomach’s of two nearby enemies. The spatter of blood went everywhere as Vergil continued to annihilate the swarms of enemies.

Nero upped his game a little, and started to rev Red Queen. He unleashed a fiery blast of rage with his sword, sending several flying up into the air. It almost rained blood onto the gang. Vergil spotted Nero’s stand on the situation, and upped his game too. Entering into Devil Trigger, he sped through an entire group of demons, and slashed them into tiny pieces.

“Huh” Nero remarked…

As if the competition between who has the better moves was being fought between Vergil and Nero; Narcisse decided to step in with one of her moves.

Opening up her wings, she sent sharp feathers flying all over the place. At the end of it all, about thirty demons hit the ground dead. Even Vergil raised his eyebrow, and looked like he was going to compliment Narcisse’s skill. But he didn’t.

Instead, he summoned one large sword, and swung it straight through the crowd of demons. As they were all impaled, he rushed forward, stabbing through more and more demons as he ran. In the end, he lifted up the huge sword that had several demons impaled onto it, and swung it once more. Sending pieces of demons flying all over the place.

(From Devil May Cry: Catacombs Of Hell *Chapter 1, pg 4*)

Then right in between conversation the door was smashed in by a bunch of zombies.

"Don't worry I'll deal with it" said Toni, and he got up, Toni pulled out his Holy Driver revolver and shot the zombie like creature in the head, the thing let out a wail and hit the floor dead.

"Any more of those things?" asked Dante.

Toni peered out the door, " Yeah there's loads" he said.

And more of the zombies approached the store, intent on feasting on human brains and such. One of the zombies tried to bite Toni's head, but Toni just pushed it away and shot it to pieces.

"You see," said Toni, in between fighting, "The problem with these, is that they're to damn slow", and he grabbed his sword and sliced the zombie in half.

"Go and grab that sword over there" said Toni, and he pointed to the rebellion sword. So Dante grabbed the sword and spun it around trying to hit the zombie swarm, he manage to hit a few but they managed to slash Dante, which to Dante's surprise had little effect on him. At the same time Toni pulled out his automatic machine pistol and shot the hell out of the zombies that were attacking Dante.

Dante looked down at all the dead zombie bodies that were lying around his shop.

"Hey, we should clean this up before any customers walk in and see" Dante said, smirking. Toni however was concentrating on all of the enemies that were still outside.

"I have a quicker way of dealing with this" said Toni, at which point he was in knight trigger mode, making his armour practically impenetrable to most weapons. In knight trigger Toni was faster and stronger, his sword grew longer and was heavier, and he ran past all the enemies through the doorway, knocking them back as if they were nothing.

(From Ending The Rivalry *Chapter 4: The Meeting, Part Two*)

The door behind Dante slammed shut. Dante continued to move forward, the face becoming more and more visible.

Then he gained his normal vision after a few seconds. And there he saw what stood before him.

"Ah come on!! This isn't even a challenge" Dante remarked.

The three Phantoms attacked, all raising fire from the ground around Dante.

Dante sped to one side, and avoided the flames. A fire bolt headed his way, and he repelled it with his sword.

The Phantoms scurried towards him, and Dante flipped into the air. Charging up Ebony and Ivory, he open fire onto them whilst in mid-air. He finally landed, and swung one of the Phantoms by the tail. He smashed the other two Phantoms, and then threw the one he was holding into a wall. The Phantom landed unharmed onto the wall.

The Phantom then jumped from the wall, and came towards Dante. Standing firm in his place, he equipped Gilgamesh quickly and smashed the Phantom into the air.

The other two shot at Dante, knocking him back a fair distance. Dante skidded across the ground, and finally regained his feet. Preserving his DT, he taunted the final two Phantoms.

Then, with a loud crash that shook the ground around the entire Coliseum. The Phantom Dante had sent flying into the air, landed down hard onto one of the remaining Phantoms.

Dante switched from Ebony and Ivory, to Coyote A. One of the remaining Phantoms charged, and was shot back heavily with Coyote A, whilst Dante was using Gunslinger.

Switching to Sword Master, Dante smashed one of the Phantoms into the air, and juggled it with his sword.

Finally, he knocked it up into the air. Jumping onto the other Phantom, he jumped off from it and landed onto the airborne one. Smashing Rebellion into its stomach, he then spun around on it whilst it was flying in the air.

He jumped from it, and landed down. Grabbing the last Phantom by the neck, and ripping its entire head off using only his brute strength.

"1 down, 7 to go" he said, as if pleased with his performance.

The door opened for Dante, who stepped back out again.

"Impressive" the mysterious voice rang out.

"Nah... Easy" Dante replied, cockily.

(From Devil May Cry: Catacombs Of Hell *Chapter 1, pg 5*)

Dante ran outside with his sword at the ready, cutting through the reapers as he ran. Never had the sword felt that much swiftness, it hadn't felt blood trickle down it for a long time. The sword swung into the skin of it's victims, slicing them apart as it did, but then Dante and Toni noticed a bigger threat than the reapers.

Standing before them was a huge dragon, but it was no ordinary dragon, it was the dragon king Krydon, who had awoken after years of sleep.

"Man he seems angry about something" Dante said, as the beast let out a heart trembling roar.

"This is not good Dante, something bad has happened. We have to take that thing down fast" Toni said.

Toni jumped on top of a group of reapers and made a giant leap towards the dragon king, but the dragon was to quick and had already blasted a fire bolt at Toni. Dante thought Toni was a goner for sure, but soon realised not to be so quick at judging things. Toni's body was amerced in some water shield, and as soon as the fire had hit his body it went out. Toni stabbed the Templar sword into the dragon's stomach, the dragon seemed fine with this attack, and swung its huge claws at Toni.

Toni let go off the sword handle and landed on the ground. Dante had caught up after just killing some reapers.

"How we going to take this flame-head down?" Dante said, whilst the dragon was pulling the Templar sword out of its stomach and throwing it to the floor.

"We work as a team. I'll attack the front and you go for the back of the head" said Toni. Toni picked his sword back up and slashed at the dragon's legs, the dragon starting kicking and Toni dodged the large feet. Dante went around the back of the dragon and scaled up its body, he dug Rebellion deep into its back and watched as the dragon king hit the ground head on.

"He wasn't quick enough to fight back" said Toni.

(From Devil May Cry: Disciples Of The Judgement Day Devils *Ingelo Abitarus’ Prologue*)

In the state that the planet had been drawn into, one man was out in the midst of darkness, ever nearing his destination.

The coldness that he was feeling against his skin was unbearable in these times. The streets torn away from how they use to be. The water that had been kept pure for so many years, was now filled with scum and decay. The darkness shrouded the world, making it hard to see past the vile filth that plagued the lands. The man that was out walking had no fear in what these creatures could do to him. He didn’t care about his fate, for he wasn’t fighting for himself. He had made his mind up years ago of what he was doing with his life. He wasn’t unclear as to what his path was, so he was slow when he was walking towards his destiny. He kept in an easy stride, and he would stand still, whilst others would pace around the place, with fear and anxiety. He stopped in the middle of the road, caressing his amulet that was left to him by his mother. He felt sad for the first time in ages. He cared not for the time that was ticking away, for he was a patient man. He knew that the end would soon dawn upon mankind, and he’d be there in the final fight, he would make sure of that.

The foul stench that came from behind him made him turn quickly.

Ingelo donned his dark face mask, half black and half silver. He pulled out his two huge swords and struck down the enemies without pity, with several neck slashes, and cuts to the legs.

More came towards him, drawing nearer and nearer. Ingelo plugged bullets into the heads of the demons that stood in his way. He was done with them…

“That was dull” he said, and he spat on the ground.

“You are the hardest thing to track down Ingelo” came a voice.

“You? I don’t usually specialise in demon slaying… But since you called me, I felt obliged to take you up on your proposal” Ingelo replied.

“How are you and the team these days Ingelo?” the man asked.

“I don’t know… I never really work with them much. You should know I work on my own” Ingelo said… he came up close to the man.

“Yes… Quite the lone ranger aren’t you?” the man replied.

“You could say that… Or you could say that I’m too damn good for this ****” Ingelo said…. Obviously the two men had met before.

“I’m going to cut the bull****, and be frank with you. You know why I came for you… You know that we need to ready an army.

“Different good guys, in different groups. It will be hard to unite us all under one roof".

“Hard as it may be... We will not rest until we have all of the potential heroes together" the man replied, with confidence in his words.

“Good luck with that… Now may I go? Or are you going to send someone to keep an eye on me? Someone to hold my hand and tell me everything is going to be okay? Please… I don’t need you, or the Templars” Ingelo replied, in his usual attitude.

“Typical of you… I’ll leave you alone, for now. But I will return for you Ingelo, and I will get you in a group” the man replied, and he walked away.

Ingelo was left with a cold look on his face.

“*******” he said under his breath, “I’m a self-dependent fighter” he added.

(From Devil May Cry: Catacombs Of Hell *Chapter 1, pg 6*)

But the dragon king wasn't dead, and he emerged from the ground.

"I thought I told you to strike him in the head?" said Toni.

"Hey you don't order me around" Dante said.

"The neck is his weak spot. Looks like I'll have to do it" Toni said, and he ran at Krydon with the Templar sword. Krydon was trying to clamber back to his feet but Toni lunged and wrapped his arms around Krydon's neck, he held the neck tightly as Krydon tried to shake Toni off.

Toni readied his strike, and then struck at the right time, Krydon was killed and Toni pulled the sword out from its neck and shook off the blood.

Krydon's blood poured out everywhere on the pavement.

"I wouldn't want to be the one to have to clean that up" Dante said, smirking.

"I know a place not far from here, use to work there" Toni said.

"What's it like?" asked Dante.

"It's a garage, I use to fix cars there, but I mostly worked on weapons" Toni replied.

Toni and Dante headed off, leaving the shop behind with no one to look after it. They walked for three blocks or so before they reached Toni's garage. When they got there they were troubled by more reapers.

"God, don't these things ever give up?" said Dante, and he turned around with his sword.

"Hey, Dante, we need to kill these *******s, I'm not having them wreck my garage like they ruined your shop" Toni said.

"Hey! I'll get it repaired, in time" Dante replied.

It didn't take long for them to kill the reapers, Dante had finished, and he was pulling his sword out of one reaper's head. The two put their weapons away at the same time.

(From Devil May Cry: When Darkness Falls *Prologue*)

Dante lay un-rested in his bed. a very busy day would follow his as he had heard of a new group of demons that were residing on a nearby island. Dante couldn't close his eyes and shut off, so he took a walk.

Before he left he checked the time, "12:13am", and he grabbed his coat and wandered out into the darkness. As Dante kicked about his souls and breathed heavily he heard an almost hear-able voice from a dark alleyway. Dante edged closer with suspicion, he was also carrying no weapons on his person.

He peered around the corner and saw nothing, so he moved closer into the alley. And almost at once two dark figures dropped down, both carrying blades. Dante sighed at the sign of demon presence, and gave the two demons a "not in the mood" look.

Without care of course the two demons went to attack, and Dante flipped high into the air, finally landing in the middle of the quiet road. The two demons pursued Dante, not getting off his back.

After all these years, Dante wasn't going to back down on a fight. Instead of running he faced the demons once more. And even though it was in the midst of darkness, and he was unarmed, the fight struck out.

(From Devil May Cry: Trials Of The Devils *Chapter 3: Behemoth*)

"I don't have to fear you, I fear nothing" Nero said.

"Don't make me laugh weakling, none have beat me, I am Behemoth and my mighty strength will crush you weakling" Behemoth replied.

Nero got real ****ed at Behemoth's taunting attitude, so he decided to dive straight into combat with the beast. Behemoth tried a punching combo moved that smashed away at a pillar, whilst Nero got higher up in the room and did a move called spiral descend.

Nero plunged downwards and hit Behemoth on the jaw with devil bringer, and then started slashing away at Behemoth with Red Queen until he eventually smashed Behemoth into the air and shot away at him with Blue Rose and Red Tyrant.

Behemoth was hailed with gunfire but still when he landed he returned to his feet and started to attack Nero with his flaming hot fire whip.

The whip nearly hit Nero on several occasions, and once it skimmed him and he could almost feel the burning hot hellish flame from the whip.

"Hmm, got to get to where that whip wont work" Nero thought to himself.

So luckily Nero jumped up and kicked off of Behemoths chest, Nero soared through the air and when he got even higher in the room he taunted Behemoth.

Behemoth got enraged and went higher as well. When Behemoth met with Nero he tried to knock him to the ground with a raging flame kick attack. However a little teleport move positioned Nero right behind Behemoth, and Nero struck Red Queen into Behemoth's back.

Behemoth still undefeated back kicked and knocked Nero to the ground, but when Behemoth turned to attack Nero again, Nero pulled out his two guns and shot away at Behemoth.

"Hmm, seems a little less affective" Nero thought to himself.

"Hey scum bag, try this on for size" said Nero, and he reached for his Lucius sword.

Behemoth looked fearful when he saw the glow emitting from the sword, and a huge red beast appeared that grabbed Behemoth and pulled him up higher until finally dropping him to the ground.

When Nero jumped down he saw the mess that'd been left, behemoth's head was bleeding heavy.

"Such strength, that arm" behemoth said before he died.

Nero picked up Behemoth who was now a weird object.

"What the hell is this? this is no devil arm, boy what a waste of my time" Nero said.

but then a voice came to him and told him to go over to the shrine.

"Fine, I’ll play this little game" Nero said.

(From Devil May Cry: Catacombs Of Hell *Chapter 3, pg 28 continued*)

"So they have amulets, big deal. Let's crush them and send them to an early grave" Reous said to his older brother.

All assume their battle poses.

"Now we shall see what these weaklings can really do" Tioup said.

Tioup struck out for Dante, but Dante jumped back and avoided the attack.

"Thanks for the help man" Dante said to Toni.

"I think I'll sit this one out if... no wait" Toni said.

Tioup had changed his attacking direction, and was now charging at Toni. Toni leapt high into the air and landed a few feet away from Tioup.

"Eh, coward" Tioup said, mockingly.

"Coward huh? Let's see how you fair against this" Toni replied.

(From Devil May Cry: Catacombs Of Hell *Chapter 3, pg 30*)

In pain, with Reous unarmed, Vergil struck his Yamato into Reous' neck and quickly pulled it out again. Reous fell to the ground, as his blood poured out from his neck.

Vergil looked up, pleased with himself. He had killed his first demon, and it had been a good one. The new found strength inside of him made him smile for the first time in ages.

Tioup however, had heard the last scream from his brother and had seen him die at the hands of Vergil.

With a quick blast of fire, he knocked Toni and Dante backwards, and picked up his sword.

He landed beside Vergil, who was startled by this.

"You... You killed my brother. How would you like it if I killed yours?" Tioup said... he almost shed tears.

"Amazed... because I know you couldn't" Vergil replied, fearlessly.

"You truly are a Devil" Tioup said, and he raised his sword high into the air. As he went to strike, Vergil grabbed Ebony and shot Tioup in the head.

Tioup's blood dripped down his face, but that didn't stop him from attacking.

Dante and Toni opened the huge iron gates that were in front of them.

"I think I should help my brother" Dante said.

"That'd be wise" Toni replied.

Dante ran over to where Vergil and Tioup were fighting. Tioup was still alive, and he was madder than ever. The blasts of fire were so big, they were hard to avoid. Vergil dived to the right, but was hit by a blast and sent flying into the wall of a nearby shop.

But Tioup hadn't noticed Dante behind him during his rage. Dante slashed Tioup's back with the Force Edge sword, and when it looked like he was about to fall down dead, he made one last attempt and staggered at Dante.

A gunshot rang out, and Tioup too hit the floor dead, just like his brother.

(From Devil May Cry: Catacombs Of Hell *Chapter 4, pg 40*)

Vergil laughed, but Toni watched as the beast's eyes fully opened.

The dragon noticed the demons standing near the chains, and figured that they had woke it. The black dragon's mouth gripped around the small demons. And then with a clash of its teeth, it bit into their bodies and picked them up. Finally, with a lash of his head he threw them into the air and they landed into its mouth; to be crushed and chewed to pieces by its huge jaws.

To the dragon, that was merely a snack. The main course would be the three humans standing before it. Unbeknownst to the beast, that they weren't human.

To Toni's, Dante's and Vergil's misfortune; that meant them. The dragon charged out of the hangar, and Vergil ran to the left of the beast. The dragon's tail swooped for Vergil, who grabbed onto it but was then flung into the air. Just like before, the dragon waited for its victim to fall into its open mouth.

"Oh no you don't" Dante said. He reached for Ebony and Ivory, and open fired on the dragon's chest.

Dante certainly got the dragon's attention, as the thing came charging towards him. Vergil, however, landed hard on the ground. Picking himself back up, he rejoined the fight.

"Like before, we split and attack different parts" Dante could hear Toni say in the background.

The dragon stopped chasing Dante, and became airborne. It began to rain fire on the ground below it.

"We can't fight it with swords, not when it reaches height like that" Toni stated.

Dante, who was still holding Ebony and Ivory; shot away at the dragon's large wings.

The dragon started losing air, and slowly came back near ground level. Its wings had been shot up, so it pained for it to go airborne.

With the creature hovering slightly off the ground, Vergil too had an idea.

(From Devil May Cry: Catacombs Of Hell *Chapter 4, pg 41*)

He summoned two large whips, and with them he hit both of the dragon’s feet. The whip dug deep into the feet, and curled around. Will all of his strength, Vergil tugged and pulled. He managed to bring the dragon right to the ground, and he let go of the whips; and stuck the Force Edge sword into the dragon’s tail. Its blood spurted onto Vergil’s face, but he dug and dug the sword into the ground.

The dragon was confined to the spot. In one last attempt to do some damage, it bellowed out and sprayed fire everywhere. Dante and Toni dived out of the way.

“Let’s put this thing out of its misery” said Toni, and he summoned a long skewer. Pulling his arm back fully, he threw the skewer and it went straight through the dragon’s heart.

The dragon toppled over to the right and hit the ground with a hard thud. Blood still pouring from its heart and tail.

“Nice thinking Vergil” said Toni.

Vergil smiled, as he pulled the sword from the ground. Dante helped, as Vergil seemed to be struggling.

“I didn’t know I had dug it in so hard. Must have been thanks to this vile you gave me” Vergil said.

“Hey!! I haven’t had any of that yet bro” Dante stated.

“Here, you can have some now. Only take a little” Vergil said, passing Dante the bottle.

Dante looked at the bottle, “A little? It’s half empty Vergil” Dante said, annoyed.

“It tastes very nice. I couldn’t stop drinking it” Vergil replied.

“Well you should have, it’s very rare” Toni informed the twins.

“Hmm. Well it makes me feel stronger” Vergil told Toni.

“So I’ve noticed” said Dante, as if jealous of his brother’s strength.

“It takes ages to get this stuff. We have only a few bottles of it, here and there” Toni replied to Vergil’s comment.

“Aw, can I have some more?” Vergil asked, in a serious manner.

“Bottles? No” Toni said, bluntly.

(From Devil May Cry: When Darkness Falls *MISSION ONE: DEMON STREET ~without a blade, step forth and slay those who sought to kill you~*)

The two demons were breathing heavily, but neither attacked.

"Come on then wimps" Dante said, and he made a taunting gesture with his left hand.

That was when more demons burst out from below the ground and covered the whole street. A whole swarm of demons surrounding Dante, outnumbering him greatly.

"Spare me the fancy stuff" Dante said, as more rose from the ground. Dante jumped up on top of another shop and landed, with his coat swaying in the cool breeze.

Dante smiled, and then pulled out ebony and Ivory, "You didn't think I would go anywhere without my old reliable did you?" Dante laughed.

The two demons took heavy fire from Dante's handguns, but they blocked almost all of it. then a group of Sin Scythes appeared from behind Dante and attacked. Dante dived backwards and carefully took a shot at the scythes masks. When he was close to landing on the street floor, he span around and landed on a group of closely huddled demons.

Dante then jumped off from the demons and opened fire on them, blasting away as many as he could. Eventually, after much commotion, the street was left with but a few demons, and the two strong demons that had stood there and watched as Dante dispatched the others.

"That ought to do it" Dante said, lowering his guns and still smiling big headedly.

Then the two stronger demons stepped forward and raised their blades.

"Oh great, I forgot about you ass holes" Dante said, as the two demons gave each other a look and nodded.

"Let's finish this" the demons said, and Dante did a hand gesture to say, "Bring it on".
