That's a low 149 combos in total but it's expected since DMC 1 wasn't very evolved in combat design.

The "A, B, and C" are the basic combos: Combo A (Triangle, Triangle, Triangle), Combo B (Triangle, Triangle -pause- Triangle Triangle) and Combo C (Triangle, Triangle -longer pause- Triangle). The numbers are the number of total actions you can do in place of the original input. For example, 2 E&I As is Triangle, Square or Triangle, Triangle, Square.
