Dante already had a daughter in a discarded script.

Hello guys! I'm new to the Forum and I want to ask you all a question.

This isn't from my own source, but I wanted to share it with fellow Devil May Cry fans on the forum. I saw this information in a short video by a Brazilian (Devil May Cry fan) about Dante possibly having had a daughter in a discarded script. He said it's probably the discarded script for Devil May Cry 4 and that his daughter's name was Angie.
I contacted this YouTuber on Discord and asked if this Angie was real. He said that this obscure story about Dante's daughter is real and that it might have been inspired by the 2007 anime. This reminded me of Patty, who has a daughter-like relationship with Dante, even if not biologically.

I tried asking him where he found this interesting fact, but he didn't say anything, changing the subject. I suspect it's a lie and that maybe he confused it with Daigo Ikeno's creation of Angelo (Vergil's daughter) as a joke, and that it wasn't something serious.
If you know of any interesting facts about this Angie, or if the guy just got confused, please let me know, right?

Have a great day!

I can honestly say that I haven't ever heard of this before. I can remember there being discussions in the past of Dante having a daughter. This was all just fan thoughts and speculations, though.

I thought to take a quick look online to see if anything was mentioned anywhere of this discarded script and the following information was all that I found after a Google search:

There is no known public link or PDF of a "discarded script" that specifically features Dante having a biological daughter. Discussions on Reddit and other forums clarify that this is a persistent fan idea or speculation, not a canonical or leaked script element.

The confusion likely stems from the following points related to early Devil May Cry concepts and fan theories:

Early DMC1 Concept: An early, discarded concept for Devil May Cry 1 (when it was in development as a Resident Evil game) featured Dante as a detective named Tony Redgrave with a female foster sister named Aisha, who was a prototype for Trish. This character was a sister figure, not a daughter.

Patty Lowell: In the Devil May Cry animated series, Dante forms a bond with a young girl named Patty Lowell, whom he informally acts as a sort of older brother or father figure to, but he never formally adopts her.

Fan Speculation: Due to Vergil having a son (Nero), many fans on Reddit and other forums speculate that the next logical step for the series would be for Dante to have a daughter to parallel the family dynamic. These are purely hypothetical discussions and creative ideas.

Personally I've always liked the idea of him having a daughter because his companions throughout the series have always been females; Trish, Lucia, Lady, and Patty from the Animated series.

I also like the contrast of Vergil having a son (Nero) so Dante would have a daughter instead. Not that he couldn't also have a son. I just like the idea of the contrasts here.

So yeah I don't think there was anything ever really concrete about Dante possibly having a daughter.

Dante has a son, already. He said so to Mundus, "Give my regards to my son for me." I say this kind of tongue in cheek. If he had a son it would be in the games by now, imo.

"And when you do come back, give my regards to my son, will ya?". Yes this was the line to Mundus. Dante was letting him know that whenever Mundus was to return from being sealed away it will likely be so far into the future that Dante would have his own son by then.

Interestingly, I'd actually forgotten about that part in Devil May Cry until you just mentioned it.

Hey, there's no reason they couldn't bring his son into play with a next game. It's actually set up perfectly. They could have all the DMC ladies get mad at Dante for having a son without them as a minor point. "What can I say, ladies? I can't tell you everything."

I spoke with the YouTuber and he gave me more details.

Dante's Daughter would be inspired by Patty Lowell, a little girl from the 2007 anime, and is part of a discarded script for some game.

(Possibly Devil May Cry 4)

But there's a problem...

He (the YouTuber mentioned in the video) said he saw it on a forum and doesn't remember the site.

But the idea is quite interesting.

But thank you for the detailed explanation, it was just fan speculation! By the way, the name Angie is beautiful! (I know it has to do with Angela and Angelo). I thought the daughter could be named Antonia (nickname: Tonia), in reference to Dante Alighieri's daughter (it has already been said that Dante shares the same name as the poet in the franchise, just as Vergil's name is inspired by the poet Virgilio), and coinciding with his pseudonym: Tony Redgrave, as well as with Nero, whose name coincides with Nelo Angelo (which should be Nero Angelo), but Morihashi said it refers to Emperor Nero who was a poet and not to the corrupted version of Vergil.

Or Bianca (a popular name among fans) and Bia is an abbreviation of Beatrice; curiously, the poet's daughter became a nun, adopting the name Beatrice in homage to her father's muse, to the point that there are books about her mystery.

Most people choose the name Bianca to contrast with Nero.

Bianca: White
Nero: Black
