Man, that's some sweet concepts right there!
Even though I remember seeing most of these either in the game or on the web somewhere.
I would've loved fighting this Cthulu Brain Demon thing....
A shame a lot of the concepts they made did not get into the game, it would've made a really unique experience!

This one's my favorite

Talk about wasted potential, amirite?

I'm slapping that "Good Idea Not Used" right next Psycho Dante.
Yep. They could have had a section where Dante finds this part of HQ, like it's hidden from him for a good reason, and then Dante suspects that maybe Vergil has not been entirely honest with him and could have alterior motives.

Gotta remember though, having surgical rooms for seeing how demons tick isn't quite the same as torturing 'em :p Not sure how upset Dante would even be, considering how much he loathes demons anyway >.<

But yay! More concept art to add to my collection! I love this sorta stuff.

I was thinking more along the lines of humans too and experimenting on how Virility controls humans brains and bodies considering how Vergil sees humans as lesser beings by the end of the game. Besides, some of those exrays in the art do look human...

As for regular demons, no, Dante wouldn't be bothered at all. The only time he shows some kind of shock towards demon killing is during the trade, and that's only because it risked Kat's safety and Dante saying no harm would come to Lilith if she did what he said.

You have to remember though, Dante doesn't make demons suffer (too much), he just finishes them off. Both old and new Vergil got their kicks out of torturing demons (old Vergil with Arkham, a human-turned-demon ("no wonder your quest for power is incomplete" -- and new Vergil smiling after the first time he shot Lilith (even though it was a top priority, seeing as how Mundus' spawn was the bigger threat).

Old, classic Dante may have enjoyed shooting Nevan in the womb, but somehow, it didn't have the malicious intent that the Vergils had. And blinding Beowulf was a move out of desperation. He was still recovering from the battle.

New, modern hipster Dante only enjoyed tormenting demons a more pragmatic sense. In the 2010 trailer, he only did the cigarette-in-the-eye thing because they were searching for and hunting him; that was just his way of saying, "Back off."

In the game, he... well, sort of tortures Vergil at the end (he kept his Rebellion in Vergil's chest longer than he had to) because Vergil was planning on making humanity his subjects. It was a necessity in both Dantes' cases.

Vergil didn't smile though. He was actually surprised he pulled the trigger.

Oooor...he just did it because, Y'know...it was funny.

Vergil was surprised.
Yes, both surprised and happy about it. There was just enough glint in his eyes to suggest that he enjoyed this... enjoyable surprise.

That's NT mo-cap for ya. Only the best in the business.

I'm only half-trolling, here. I really do like their mo-cap, but don't care for the "bragging" about it.

I kind of interpreted his expression more like 'did it work?' or 'did I hit it?' sort of thing; as if he was anticipating that baby escaping her body and going on a rampage like the boss fight.

Oh yeah, that too. Those three things altogether, then. The... joy, the surprise, and making sure he hit his target.
