can't do Jump cancel

short-x

Member
i have a problem with Dante in DmC .. i cant simply jump cancel .. i have tried alot .. with different timing variations, and couldn't get it even once ....

on the other hand i have the Vergil's Downfall DLC installed ... and when i try it with him its perfectly executed ... i don't know what to do ...

i need help ( BTW i installed the second update too )

Try watching some tutorials on how to do it. It can be done, I've seen a crazy video of a guy on YouTube jump canceling like a pro.

It's not that i am not able to do it .. like i said .. with Vergil i can do it easily .. but when using Dante its impossible

A usb controller .. with a Xbox360 controller emulator .. does that make a difference ??
Is this like DMC4, where you have to buy the move called "Enemy Step" (jump on enemy to Jump Cancel) to be able to even execute it in the first place?

Or, maybe the timing in the main game is off. Some people have complained about that.

I've never been able to do a jump cancel, because I've no idea how to even attempt it. I use a PS3 T.T
Using Jump Cancel is the art of reseting the number of moves you can do in the air. I'll take DMC3 as an example.

The Killer Bee kick with Beowulf is the easiest to JC and it works like this. When the attack connects the enemies hitbox, you press jump to cancel the recovery frames and to reset the number of attacks you can do in the air. The enemy acts as a "floor" so you can contiune to do aeriel attacks. Killer Bee is the easiest to JC since it goes in a downward arc so you can jump off the top of the enemies hitbox.

Different enemies have different "sweetspots" on their hitbox for you to jump off and it also depends on the attack you use.

DmC have some really odd hitboxes so it can be either really easy to jump cancel or really hard. I personally never found a reason to JC since the angel and demon whips fulfills the purpose of JC.

You do have to buy Enemy Step first.

If you have bought it for both characters bear in mind Helm Breaker is different timing to JC with Vergil and Dante (much easier with Vergil) I'd recommend trying to JC the first hit of Osiris' air combo, it's much easier.

If you want to check your Enemy Step is working just see if you can jump on an enemy's head repeatedly, that will tell you if it's a timing thing or just the game being weird.

if you have the xbox controls buy eneny step switch jump to the x button and special attack to the y button have b for shoot and a for standard melee , then once u get the timing on enemy step right slide ur thumb accross x,a or x,y keep practicing til you get the rythm right and there you go you can jc switch up ur weapons to extend the combos and have fun

As everyone have said, check if enemy step is enabled.

But i would suggest cancelling rake(osiris). You don't have to change your button config for this. Once you get the hang of it, try cancelling osiris air combos.

We know you were too busy looking for squirrels.:troll:

Well .. i tried playing with PS3 controller .. using a Xbox360 emulator of course .. i confirmed that i have a enemy step .. then i tried canceling an Orisis rake .. was successful but couldn't get it more than twice .. probably needs practice ... then i tried doing it with Rebellion .. still too hard to do it .. i am starting to think its related to the game configurations maybe ??!

i really appreciate everyone's concern . :)

Okay, May be this would help you. The ideal point at which you need to hit jump button cancel is immediately after the flash of light that occurs when you melee hit an enemy. Even in ground combos, you can see a flash of light that flashes at each hit. Follow this light instead of attack animations and you will successfully jump cancel.

However, we can cancel heavy aerial attacks before the flash of light with arbiter , but you can try that later. But the basic of owning JC is to follow that flash of light when an aerial hit connects an enemy.
