Buying the rights: how would that work out?

A fan dream has been for capcom to sell the rights to DmC to NT and Im curious as to how that would work as wouldn't you have to sell the rights to both parts of the franchise?

or could you slice DMC up like a pizza and sell different parts to different companies?
(analogy intended)

Would there be potential restrictions in terms of characters/concepts to use? Would companies wanna publish an IP that shares a name with a rival company?

just thoughts i had so feel free to share answers or other concerns.

i don't think capcom should sell DmC to NT, just let NT work under them, cuz capcom did have their part on the awesome fun gameplay and i'm afraid if it was to be sold to NT it wont be the same.. but then again if they are still working together, they need to split the cash..

I agree. It'd be like giving The Amazing Spiderman to DC, while The Spectacular Spiderman stays with Marvel.
