Bayonetta Short Story

Hello all and welcome to my second installment of my series of short stories. Now, I understand that, oddly enough, people here aren't really into Bayonetta but I decided to make fanfic of her not just because I'm a fan but because I'm a fan that wants to see her be more than well... whatever the heck she is. I also hope that the story might make her seem more fully- developed of a character. So, without further ado, I present the first chapter.

Chapter 1- Changing

It is taught among the Umbran Witches that, as sisters, we must never distance ourselves from each other. While we are physically apart, we must never be seperate in each other's hearts. With that said, I can only feel sorrow knowing that now my other sisters are gone. But, alas, I still have one. One sister that I can cherish. One whose heart will forever be close to mine.

However, now that her memories have been coming back to her. She has been changing. She's become distant from me and our companions. I always look at her, wondering what's going on in that beautiful head of her's but I could never tell. Her bright smile seems to have faded from her lips and an emotionless ponder seems to have taken its place.

I must know what's wrong.

"Cereza!" Jeanne called. "Come over here and help me, won't you dear? I needed help picking a new design of clothes to from with my hair."

"Oh!" Bayonetta snapped from her trance. She had been deep in her thoughts for awhile now, much longer than she felt comfortable with. It didn't help that the emptiness of Rodin's bar was now making her mood more depressive. Things had changed around the bar. Customers weren't coming in anymore. Rodin, now having few people to serve, was just rewashing clean dishes now. If nothing happens soon, the place will be closed down. The dust on the chairs, the lonely shelf of glasses and plates, and the wine that was starting to lose their flavor. All of it were signs of the end of Rodin's beloved. He built it from nothing and it seems that how it's going to end. Bayonetta could only stare at the bar where her funnest memories took place.

"Well? What do you think about this one?" Jeanne pointed at a lovely red gown in her magazine. It had a sultry look to it but she intended to make a few changes to make it a little more classy. "Well?"

"It looks great. I'm liking your taste." Bayonetta wasn't really interested but she tried to force in a smile. It didn't fool Jeanne.

"Cereza, I know something's on your mind. What is it?" Jeanne put the magazine away and reached out for her sister's hand.

"Its nothing, Jeanne." Bayonetta nodded her head. "Just a bunch of memories boggling my head, that's all."

"I know that. I want to know which ones they are."

Bayonetta was silent for a few seconds but she decided all she could do was put this off. "Just small things, 'tis all."

"They can't be small things if you think so hard on them."

"Well, what is it to you? Can't a girl think about the things she's forgotten until a few months ago?" Bayonetta pulled her hand away and sat up straight, trying to make a display of having an attitude.

"You very well can, but something's changing you. I want to know what it is. I want you back to your old self again."

"I am my old self. I can't be my new self since there is no new self, right?"

"Cereza..." Jeanne tried to hold Bayonetta on her shoulder, but she rejected the hand.

"I don't want to talk about it, Jeanne."

"I'm not letting this go. I'm not letting you grow distant from me. We've become so close. I don't want that to end now."

"Well, maybe that's how thing's are."

"You guys sound like a divorcing couple." Rodin said. Sort of out of the blue since he was so silent for so long.

"Oh shut up!" The two witches said in unison.

"Cereza, just tell me."

Bayonetta once again fell silent. "Alright, I'll tell you, but you have to promise me something."

"What is it?"

"You must not judge after what I'm about to tell you. You must understand that I'm the same Cereza you've spent the past few months with. I'm the same woman you are so proud of. Your same Umbran Sister."

"I promise, but what would happen to you that you would think I would see you so differently?"

"Well..."

I thought it was cool even if im not that big a fan of bayo's story. i think it has a interersting world and mythos, just that the characters dont appeal to me.

Sorry for the wait, I'm just having schedule issues. I'll have the second chapter in about two or so more days.

But while we're on the topic, I think Bayonetta's story has a lot of potential which is why I'm writing this fanfic.

hey its cool. take your time.

if you can make it work, go ahead.

I think you should have Jeanne try to rebuild the umbran witches as penance for her crimes under Balder's control and fulfilling her duty as she could be the daughter of the Clan's leader and next in line to take over.

Thanks, I'm almost done. Spoilers on the next chapter: There was another Forbidden Child.

Chapter 2- The Other Child

It started after I completed a mission. I had just defeated an angel gone rogue and was now just simply exploring the town, taking in the scenery as I began my climb up the mountains. I've never been much of a nature girl but it seemed like something was calling me up there, something that felt familiar to me, like I was about to meet someone I hadn't seen in a long time.

I came upon a small cave. Deep within it lied a small baby, looking no more than a month old. I was saddened and felt pity for the child. Who would just leave a baby out? I was about to go back to town to ask the folks if they knew the child until I felt the sensation that a spell of some kind had just been released.

It came from the baby, so I did a quick analysis spell to see what kind of spell had been cast on him. It turned out he was trapped in a time spell. After that, I understood what that familiar feeling was from before..

"You found a baby in a cave? And it was trapped in a time spell?" Jeanne asked.

"Yes." Bayonetta answered, slightly irritated at the sudden disruption of her story.

"Well, that's a sad little story. What happened to it?" Jeanne rested her head on her hand as she began to figure that this was going to be long.

"I'm gettting to that part. It turned out that the baby was my age. Exactly my age. Right down to the tiniest second."

"What do you mean "exactly" your age?" Jeanne raised an eyebrow now that she was curious but she had the feeling that the story would soon turn sinister after this point.

"He was born at exactly the same time I was born."

"Wow. And he must be an important child for him to be hidden with a time spell for so long."

"Well... "

The child emitted a strange magical energy. An energy that felt just like my own. After that, I gave up on the thought that the townsfolk would know the child. I quickly hurried to home, hiding the baby under an invisibility spell as I passed the other witches. I went to my room and did as much of a scan on the baby as I could.

What did I find? That he was a forbidden child, just like me. I was so shocked that I almost cried. It didn't help that I had brought him to the worst place possible for him. I had to sneak him back out. Hide him again, but where? The time spell had already released. It had stopped the child from aging, who knows what effects it might have on him now that it's been deactivated. What was I to do? I stood in a panic for who knows how long before I finally came up with a plan. There was only one other place I could take him.

"Where, Bayonetta, where?" Jeanne was now leaning forward close to Bayonetta. The suspense was killing her. Bayonetta's answer to this question could very well confirm her doubts for where this story was heading.

"To the Home of the Lumen Sages." Bayonetta looked down at her hands with a sad expression, as if she had just murdered someone.

Jeanne's eyes grew wide. This story had just take a turn for the worst.

Wooh! Finally in! As short as this was, this took a lot of planning. There were so many directions this chapter could have taken, but I had to place things in the context of what I wanted for the story's ending.

By the way, this story is only three chapters long. So next chapter's the final one. I didn't want this to be a journey for Bayonetta like I did for Dante in the DmC short story, rather I wanted it to be a reflection on herself. As an Umbran Witch, she's tied to her creed and must not keep any secrets, yet she's already committed two crimes against her clan:

1) Hiding the identity of a forbidden child from her Umbran sisters.
2) Relying on the Lumen Sages over her own kind.

Basically, the overall theme for the Umbran Witches is Sisterhood, and you'll see that in the final chapter.
