Bayonetta: Laguna or just "angels"?

Seriously, which is their official name? I don't remember hearing Laguna anywhere in the game, but my brother insists that's their "true" designation.

Any proof of that?

The lowest rank of angels are named Affinity, but that's it. They're classed as Angels, as in, that's their rank.

Apparently, according to my brother, the name Laguna shows up in their files that you can access in the pause menu.

Technically, yes. But they aren't mentioned as Laguna by any of the characters in that game. Only in the files, like your brother said. Considering there aren't many prominent Vigrid citizens in that game, so it is understandable.
