Can't say which is stronger. Argosax in DMC2 was a highly watered down version of itself. Arius drain its power making it very weak when Dante killed it.

How do you get that? The ritual was incomplete plus Arius was dead. He obviously didn't take much of Argo's power at all even when he was possessed. Besides Argosax's true form is the Despair Embodied and there's nothing to say it wasn't at full strength.

Not like it really matters. We didn't see much in the way of giant great feats from either Argosax or Mundus. It's more judging off:
1. they both lost to Sparda though Argosax could only be sealed, not killed, by Sparda.
2. The fact DMC2 Dante shoudl logically be much stronger than when he defeated Mundus in DMC1.

I thought of creating life and controlling space, time and the eliments a pretty big feat.

I haven't beaten DMC1 so what feats of life creation or warping space does he have exactly? Did he spontaneously create an army with a thought? Did he make a dimension or something?

When Dante confronts him in his Underworld lair, to give them a bit more "room" to fight he transforms the lair and teleports them both to the middle of space. The final battle takes place with them both flying through space where Mundus fires lighning bolts from the sky at him, aims meteor showers at him and gigantic pieces of...space rock or something. Among his other more usual attacks like lasers and stuff.

He also reveals that it was him who created Trish, most likley as a way of taking advantage of Dantes one weakness his love for his mother.
He is also the master of one of the main bosses, Griffon so he must have created him as well. Not to mention the fact that he was able to tame and control one of the sons of Sparda. Thats a feat in itself.

Even though the ritual was incomplete, the portal was still opened and Argosax power was still drained giving Arius several demon forms. The ritual was suppose to completely draind Argosax power killing him and most likely Arius taking its image. The Despair Embodied is said to take many forms. As you can see he is very weak because Dante is able to kill him which Sparda couldn't and we know Sparda(human form)>/=Dante.

Dante has been said to have greater power than Sparda since DMC1 I thought.
And it may be out of universe but the quote before the final mission in DMC2 is:
"The hunter shall surpass all who came before him."

I figured that meant Sparda.

And we don't know what other forms Sparda had so his human form is the only oen we can judge compared to Dante and the others.
