Are there any literal deities in the DMC franchise?

Who are the gods in the DMC franchise? Or are they all just powerful demons fighting each other?

There isn't any true god in DMC. Every character described as a god was just a powerful demon. Mundus would be the closest thing to a god since he can create living being.

That would be a great idea. And the opportunity to study H.P. Lovecraft lore of the outer gods, and Clive Barker's Hellraiser series as inspiration to make a unique pantheon of cosmic horror and demonology.

We could see some characters that they self proclaimed as gods and are depicted as one in their profiles.
